“We need to find Peterson,” Quinn said.

“I’m sure she’ll find out soon enough. But there is something else we can do.”

“Which is?”

“We’ll go and try to talk to his parents again,” Helen answered. She turned to Marianne, who had turned from her desk. “Marianne, tell Eric that I had to duck out due to an emergency.”

“I will, Helen.”

“Come on, Quinn.”

“Right behind you,” Quinn said.

Daria, Jane and Jennifer left the Historia out the rear entrance. “So, what are we doing?” Jennifer asked.

“I’ll drop you two at Jane’s and then look for the fourth vigilante,” Daria answered.

“You don’t want us to know her secret identity too,” Jane concluded.

“Exactly, and you’re likely to be safe there,” Daria said.

“True,” Jane said.

“I’d likely to be just as safe at the Historia. I’d like to help,” Jennifer said. “Even if SpiderGirl conveniently roped me into this.”

Daria could see that Jennifer was struggling a little. “You can do it. You’re helping with the play after all,” she said as she turned on the engine.

“Thanks,” Jennifer said.

“And you can help Jane. She has gathering various maps of Lawndale. Maybe you two can try to figure out where William might go.”

“Good idea, Daria,” Jane said.

Jane thought about it as Daria drove towards Howard Drive. ‘It would be difficult for me to leave as the Shadow if Jennifer is there, but Daria would be suspicious if I refuse Jennifer’s help now. I’ll have to wait five minutes and get Trent to help Jennifer with my project.’

Freya looked at the directory in the Grand Atrium again. “Renaissance Art of Aurora, should be in the Renaissance Section.” She found that it was. “Of course.” But, was Alexia still in the Information Science Section?

She decided to see if Alexia was still there or not first.

She found that Alexia had left. ‘Not surprising, she had to go to lunch herself.’ She then headed to the Renaissance section.

The afternoon passed, Freya read about various Auroran artists from the Renaissance, many of whom she had known about, but she learned more about the context of their works. But she soon found some mysteries. Some of them had mysteriously stopped their work, and others works had been lost over time, even from the University’s art gallery.

“No Atlanteans,” Fishlegs added anyway.

“And an additional person who’s not identified,” Astrid said.

“But where are the Atlanteans?” Fishlegs asked.

“Maybe they found an island and left the ship?” Nefertiti asked.

“One problem with that,” Tuffnut said.

“But why would the dragons still be on board?” Astrid asked. “And why is it approaching Berk of all places? It doesn’t make sense.”

“Record of ship now,” Ruffnut said.

“What?” Fishlegs asked.

“It’s saying the same thing,” Astrid said with annoyance.

“Wait,” Ruffnut said. “Record when the ship left Atlantis.”

Leigh Steinhart arrived in the Main Room below Delroy High, having taken the tube system from the Christian School, where her father had dropped her off. She went to check the system and saw that nothing was out of order. ‘Of course it isn’t,’ she thought. She looked at the time. 8:25. It was still a bit early to go up to the school.

Excerpt from: Tales of Voyager
The Doctor had overheard the conversation. “Everything is more complex than we expect.”

“That’s the experience of every investigator,” Janeway said. “But we will get home.” She turned to Kes. “Try not to worry about the Krenim. I’m sure that the Borg will find them as resistant as the Federation.”

“I hope so,” Kes said.

“She is free to go, although I advise rest for a couple of days,” the Doctor said. “Let Ensign Wildman tend the airponics bay.”

“I’ll let her know,” the Captain said.

“I need to think more about the experience anyway,” Kes said.

Janeway and Kes left sickbay together a few minutes later. “I thank you, again, for getting us out of Borg space.”

“We’re now in the unknown,” Kes said. “The Caretaker may have been part of group of explorers and later scoured the Galaxy for a mate, but he didn’t teach us much about way lay beyond. That’s part of why I wanted to be on this journey.”

“You may have told me that before.”

“Yes. That is one reason why I wanted to stay on Voyager, Captain. I want to reach the Federation with you.”

“I can’t promise that we’ll make it in your lifetime,” Kathryn said.

“I know that too, but you’re all my friends, even those who I barely know.”

They reached the turbolift. “I have to get back to the Bridge. There’s a lot to do before we leave this planet.”

“Have you named it yet?” Kes asked.

“It has a catalogue number.”

“But that seems inadequate.”

“I know what you mean. I’ll consider it,” the Captain said.

Janeway returned to the Bridge to see that Chakotay was coordinating the repair efforts with his usual efficiency. “Report,” she said as she came to the command chair.

“B’Elanna says that the warp core is back online and the shield generators have been overhauled. We should be back in the sky by 1800,” Chakotay reported.

“That’s good news.”

“And there doesn’t seem to be any damage to the spaceframe.”

That was even better news.

The boat soon reached the creek and SpiderGirl easily turned the boat upstream, despite the reed beds. “We should be back in Lawndale in ten to fifteen minutes,” she said.

“That’s good,” Dafoanairi said. “Because I’m getting seasick.”

SpiderGirl took something out of her utility belt and handed it to Dafoanairi. “Here, some ginger,” she said.

“Um, thanks, but is it fresh?”

“Of course. I bought it yesterday.”

“OK.”

Dafoanairi ate the ginger cube. ‘I guess that if she’s carrying people, they sometimes get nauseous,’ she thought as she looked ahead. It would be while they would see much of Lawndale yet. She knew that SpiderGirl was familiar somehow. ‘I know who she isn’t,’ she thought as she looked at Jane and thought of the Enigma. ‘But whoever she is, I’ll protect her identity as I’m protecting the Enigma’s.’

SpiderGirl’s estimate was accurate. The boat arrived at Lawndale’s dock, a third of a mile upstream of the Jefferson Bridge, almost fifteen minutes after entering the creek. The storm was beginning to subside. SpiderGirl could see Agent Leung waiting. “OK, everyone out, we’re here.”

“Good,” Dafoanairi said. “I’ll be off.”

“Are you sure?” Ninja Talon said.

“I need to rest before something I have to do later today,” Dafoanairi said.

Ninja Talon indicated her understanding with a nod.

SpiderGirl and Ninja Talon lead Jane and the critics up from the dock to the waiting FBI agents.

“Here are the former abductees,” SpiderGirl said.

“Jane Lane,” Jane said. “We’ve all been through a lot.”

“We can go to the field office right away,” Leung said.

The information Science section was relatively close to the Grand Atrium.

“Here we are,” Alexia said, as she turned into an out of the way nook. There were few other students there.

“Very good,” Freya said she followed.

“Directories, Archival systems. This is in Auroric…” Alexia said.

Freya took it. “Renaissance Era cataloguing systems,” she said.

“You’re Auroric?”

“I am, although from relatively close to Urbs Aeterna.”

“What else does it say?”

“It gives a list of the cataloguing systems. But there is no indication of a colour coded map of the library,” Freya said.

“They have to be around here somewhere,” Alexia said with a tone of exasperation.

“There!” Freya said, she bounded over to a shelf.

“What is it?”

“Diagrams of the Main Library.”

“Looks like there is a large number of editions,” Alexia said.

“This is the 63rd, published in 2004,” Freya said as she opened it.

Excerpt from:
“I’ll wait in the café.”

“Thanks.”

Dani entered the café and saw that Scott Ashworth was there. ‘I didn’t think he was interested in Shakespeare,’ she thought. She then went up to the counter.

“How may I help you,” the pigtailed waitress asked.

“A white tea, thanks.”

“Coming right up.”

Scott Ashworth listened to the gothic girl, Andrea, as she explained what the vigilante, Ninja Talon, had asked for her. Despite the busyness of college life, he had followed the news since SpiderGirl had appeared, especially after Groundhog Day. It seemed that the situation in Lawndale was escalating. “So, you want to try to find Jane Lane, or the critics, through the video surveillance system?”

“Yes. At least use Oscorp’s tentacles for good.”

Andrea had told him about the large property footprint of Oscorp in Lawndale too. “I could get in trouble if you’re caught,” he said.

“I know. I will be careful,” Andrea responded.

“That’s what I wanted to hear.”

“Huh?”

“I will do it,” Scott said. “I mean I’ll let you.”

“Right now?”

“Before the play starts. I have a ticket for tomorrow night, but.”

“I wasn’t seeing it tonight either,” Andrea responded. “Ninja Talon’s here, somewhere, as her secret identity. I’ll let her know.”

“I’ll wait.”

Andrea found Brittany in an isolated area backstage. “It’s going ahead,” she said.

“I’ll let Spidey know,” Brittany responded. “But when?”

“Right now.”

“Right, but we won’t be able to respond until after the play.”

“Is SpiderGirl in the play?” Andrea asked.

“I’m not answering that.”

Andrea chuckled. “I know. And somehow, I’m sure Jane wouldn’t mind waiting a few hours. But I know I won’t find something straight way. It will take time, such that the play would likely be over first.”

As Andrea left out the front with Scott, Quinn and Brittany emerged onto the roof. “I still have a couple more interviews to conduct,” Quinn said.

“How many is that?” Brittany asked.

“Seven, Beck was the eighth.”

“Anyway, Andrea has left with Tania’s brother.”

“So, It’s going ahead?” Quinn asked.

“Yes, but she said that it would take time.”

“I knew that.”

“There’s still an hour before the play,” Brittany said. “I’m going to patrol.”

Quinn nodded. “With all that’s going on, the rest of Lawndale hasn’t been getting the same attention this week.”

Dafoanairi returned to the Historia after a quick patrol herself, and saw Ninja Talon leave the roof. ‘Not surprising,’ she thought as she paused before re-entering. One the ninja had gone out of sight, she re-entered the building.

Daria entered the café and saw a large group of fellow Lawndale High students having an early dinner. “I guess this takes their mind off things,” she commented to Peterson.

“It does.”

“Any further news?”

“None,” Peterson answered.

“It’s still early yet.”

“Exactly. It isn’t always dramatic rescue missions. Far from it. It’s a lot of legwork.”

“I knew that,” Daria commented. “Intellectually. Now I’m getting a better understanding.”

Excerpt from: Spider Quinn
After midnight, Daria crept out onto the roof. She looked out over Lawndale, and wondered where Jane was being held. ‘It has to be somewhere close by.’ She took out a map of Lawndale County. ‘She said that Oakwood is too far for her locate ability to work. Five miles between Lawndale and Oakwood.’ She looked at the area south of Lawndale, and saw that Lake Lawndale was only three and a half miles from the center of Lawndale at the closest point. ‘Or maybe she’s being held somewhere there. But I can’t get there tonight.’
She then went down to try to get some sleep.

SpiderGirl arrived on the roof of the Historia in the early hours to find Ninja Talon waiting. “Hey.”

“Hey, Spidey. It was an interesting evening.”

“And complicated. I got the impression that the Enigma doesn’t like the civilian me personally. I’m not sure why.”

“I got to the creek with Trent and Dafoanairi but we were too late,” Ninja Talon said.

“They said that.”

“What happened with the theater?”

“There were no traps, and most of the other actors were still there. But you weren’t the only one who left,” SpiderGirl answered.

“Good.”

“Your secret identity is still safe.”

“I still took a risk,” Ninja Talon said.

“So did I.”

“And you still think Dafoanairi might be Daria?”

SpiderGirl nodded. “She had run off and said that she had gave chase to the abductor when she returned.”

“But she could have done that anyway.”

“That’s a good point.”

“But now we need to find Jane,” Ninja Talon said. “I have an idea.”

“We’re going to ask Andrea?”

“Yes. Either that or infiltrate Oscorp again to get the CCTV footage.”

“Andrea first,” SpiderGirl decided. “But would she be up?”

“We could go there anyway.”

SpiderGirl agreed, and so they headed in that direction.

As it turned out, Andrea was up, gaming, as she couldn’t sleep with everything that had been going on. She heard Ninja Talon and SpiderGirl enter the house from the back door. Just as well her parents were heavy sleepers. She met them in the hallway. “Why are you here?” she asked quietly. “You’re not asking me to hack Oscorp again, are you?”

“Maybe,” SpiderGirl said. “It’s to do with the missing critics.”

“I doubt Oscorp is responsible,” Andrea said as she lead them into her room.

“Jane Lane is also missing,” Ninja Talon said.

“I heard her interview about the play,” Andrea said. “Wait, are you saying that something happened?”

“Yes,” SpiderGirl said and explained what had happened at the Historia earlier in the night.

Andrea took it in. “I’m not sure what I could do about it. Even if there are cameras outside the Historia that might have seen this mysterious person take Jane into the stormwater system, trying to download the video over a dial up connection won’t work.”

“I see,” SpiderGirl said.

“But there could be a way,” Andrea considered.

“What would that be?” Ninja Talon asked.

“If I had access to one of Lawndale State’s computer labs, I would be able to do it.”

“I have no idea about that,” SpiderGirl said.

“But other students at Lawndale High have siblings at Lawndale State,” Andrea said. She turned to Ninja Talon. “I could get back to you at lunch. What do you say?”

“That could work. We can meet in the library. But Spidey won’t be there!”

“I won’t,” SpiderGirl said.

“Relax. I still don’t want to know your identity.”

“Good. Then Talon can tell me later.”

Ninja Talon nodded.

“Where is this island, again?” Pete asked.

It seemed that there were already artefacts from there. That, or the Regents had gathered information on the island for some other reason. ‘I better find more information.’

The Riders landed on the top deck. They quickly noticed that it wasn’t made of wood, rather it seemed to be composed of some metal or other. “A little unusual,” Hiccup commented.

Berk in Time
Dragons on a Timeship
This is Berk. Most places have cats or dogs as pets. But we have dragons.

Hiccup was doing what he liked best after a long day at the Dragon Academy. He was riding Toothless over the seas surrounding Berk. It was exhilarating, just him and his bud. However, something unexpected happened. He sighted something in the distance. It looked, big. Toothless gave an inquisitive growl.

“I see it too, Bud. Let’s have a closer look.”

Not long after, Hiccup could clearly see that the object was a kind of ship he hadn’t seen before. Also, it was much larger. He also knew the patterns of the currents in the area, that it would reach Berk some time the next day. “Better give them the heads up, Bud.”

The sun was setting as Hiccup and Toothless landed outside Berk’s Great Hall. The door was open. ‘Something is happening,’ Hiccup thought as he dismounted.

Stoick the Vast, Chief of the Hooligans of Berk, saw his son enter the Great Hall. “There he is now, along with his Dragon.”

The woman who had identified herself as Nefertiti turned. “Rather small, isn’t he?”

“Aye, he is,” Stoick said in a long suffering tone.

“Hi Dad,” Hiccup said as he came up. “Toothless and I have found something.”

“You can tell me about it later.”

Hiccup nodded. “Who is this?”

“She arrived on Berk this afternoon with Trader Johann,” Stoick explained.

“Nefertiti.”

“Hiccup, and this is Toothless.”

“Your Father told me that it was you who first trained Dragons.”

“Yes, it was. I found Toothless, and befriended him,” Hiccup answered.

“And Berk now lives peacefully with the Dragons.”

“Yes,” Hiccup answered.

“I see,” Nefertiti said.

“Dad, Toothless and I found something. A strange ship, approaching Berk.”
It was clear to Stoick, that his son wanted him to know straight away. “You say it’s approaching Berk?” he asked.

“Yes,” Hiccup answered. “It would run aground sometime tomorrow.”

“There could be anything aboard,” Stoick considered.

“I agree. Which is why I want to investigate it before you’re obliged to open fire with our catapults.”

“And you would be right in that regard. It could be a threat to Berk.”

“I thought so,” Hiccup said.

“Maybe Nefertiti could help,” Stoick suggested.

“Maybe, but she hasn’t ridden a dragon before, and I doubt there’s time to find her one.”

“Toothless looks big enough for two.”

“Most dragons are. But I need to find the other Riders first.”

“Of course.”

“Can I come with you?” Nefertiti asked.

“Certainly.”
