Excerpt from: Changes in Time and Space
The Doctor told her companions to run. They ran to a nearby park and hid behind some trees before the figures in the ship could see them.
“What are they Doctor?” Felicia asked. She wondered if this was what the TARDIS was warning her about. She thought some more. No it wasn't she decided.

“Drahvins! But how could they have gained the capability to time travel without my knowing?” the Doctor asked.

“They look all female, Doctor,” Daniel said.

“Don’t let that fool you, Dan.”

“What?” Lawson asked.

“Why would someone do this sort of thing on an uninhabited planet?”

“No idea,” T'Sal answered.

“And also, there were previous surveys, why wasn't this picked up then?”

“Previous surveys of this system were done entirely aboard the ships in question. And the last was done just before the war with the Dominion. As you are aware, Starfleet's priorities were elsewhere.”

“Of course,” Hernandez said. She didn't really want to think about the War.

“There's another one,” Lu confirmed.

“That's seven, then,” Emmerson stated.

Jess and Daniel arrived at Daniel’s room, or what should have been Daniel’s room. She looked at the sign that said ‘Danae’s Room’ instead of ‘Daniel’s Room’. “Something happened back in 1980 to change from male to female,” Daniel explained.

“I get that,” Jess said. “If it can change that way. It can be changed back.”

“But we don’t know what caused that change.”

“Weapons and defence systems.”

“Yes. Phased Energy weapons, Phasers; and Quantum Torpedoes. Deflector shields to defend against enemy weapons fire. The latter had failed before the crash. They're now fully repaired.”

Nina knew Alpha was holding something back, most likely the status of the torpedo inventory, but didn't ask. “That's good,” she said, regarding the repair status of the shields.

Alpha pointed to the port console. “The Operations Console, where ships systems are monitored and the crew's activities managed.” She then walked back to the rear consoles.

She knew the TARDIS didn't like it when they were left open.

The Doctor was about to go back into the TARDIS when Felicia came out. She sensed her state of mind immediately and knew that the TARDIS had imparted (or had tried to impart) something to her. That was something that hadn’t happened for a while, probably not more than once since her last regeneration. She looked at the other companions. she saw that all of them, more or less, knew that something was up with Felicia.
“Ok, don’t be all staring at me like that.”

“Aussies apparently,” Dani added.

“I’ll try the ‘Bangers and Mash’,” Clara decided.

“Isn’t that just sausages and mashed potatoes?” Dani asked.

“One can add side vegetables,” Clara said.

“Then I’ll have the Fish and Chips. I always wanted to try that,” the Doctor said.

They then made their order.

“I was going to invite you to help,” Alpha considered. “You'll have to officially join the crew.”

“Of course.”

Nina followed Alpha into the Bridge. There were consoles along the walls with two behind and one in front of the Commander's Chair in the centre. “Efficient layout,” she stated.

“This is the Commander's chair, with the command consoles in the armrests,” Alpha said indicating said chair. She then pointed to the console in front. That is the Conn, also referred to as the Helm, where the ship is flown and the navigation systems accessed. Also the Pilot can engage the engines and choose the speed, Obviously.”

“That's obvious,” Nina said with a sigh. “But these other consoles?”

Alpha turned to the standalone consoles behind the Commander's Chair. “The console to starboard is the Tactical Console.”

“That may be helpful,” Jake considered.

“Let’s see,” Keiko said. “I know. You can include a competition of some kind.”

“A competition? Like baseball?”

Keiko knew he would bring up that particular game, given that Commander Sisko was a fan of that game. “It doesn’t have to be a ball game. It could also be a card game, or some kind of treasure hunt.”

Jake nodded. “I’ve got it! Thanks, Mrs. O’Brien.”

Keiko O’Brien turned as she heard her name called. Jake Sisko had remained behind. “Yes?” she asked.

“I’m having trouble with the writing assignment,” Jake answered.

“What’s the problem?”

“The problem is, the target is too broad. I mean, write a story with a moral meaning. That could be anything.”

“So you want me to narrow the topic?” Keiko asked.
