The Doctor didn’t have to wait long before the robots came along. One looked like an ordinary Maine Coon. The other like an ordinary young woman.

“Come out, intruder,” the latter said in a normal sounding voice.

“I’m coming out,” the Doctor said.

“And the other two,” the robot woman said.

“What other two?”

“The girl, and the boy with the Naked Mole Rat.”

“Oh, them.” the Doctor said. “They’re not with me.”

“They followed you in.”

“Wherever they are, they are closer to whatever device is interfering with the electricity in Lawndale.”

“It isn’t something that’s dangerous,” the robot said. “And you are?”

“You can call me the Doctor.”

“The Doctor…” the robot considered.

“And your name is?”

“Kaelyn.”

“Kaelyn,” the Doctor considered. He wasn’t sure that she was telling the truth.

Whilst the Doctor was facing off with Kaelyn, Kim and Ron found a hatch down into the basement. Lights came on as they climbed down the ladder. Computer equipment could be seen, along with a several active coils, and a monitor that showed the Portal back to Middleton by satellite footage. “Question is; are they responsible? Or is it someone else?” Kim asked.

“I don’t see anyone here!” Ron said.

Rufus agreed with him.

“I know you activated that portal,” Kaelyn said.

“So, you’re not responsible?” the Doctor asked.

“No.”

“I mean, whoever is responsible for you, aren’t also for the portal.”

“As far as I know, they aren’t.”

“I see,” the Doctor commented.

“I don’t know anything about Middleton either,” Kaelyn said.

“Then we could investigate it together.”

“We need to find those other three first.”

“Of course,” the Doctor said. He took out his sonic. “They’re in the basement.”

“Then we need to get down there,” Kaelyn said.

The second period finished. Peter called Stacy over before she could leave.

“What is it?” she asked nervously.

“What happened earlier….” Peter began.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” Stacy interrupted.

“When you said that flicker wasn’t an ordinary flicker.”

“Oh,” Stacy said quietly.

“You don’t have to if you don’t want to.”

“It’s difficult to explain. It’ll take too long,”

“So, later?” Peter asked.

“Maybe,” Stacy answered, before leaving the room.

Kim and Ron were still examining the equipment when the Doctor and Kaelyn appeared. “Doctor? Who is this?” Kim asked.

“Kaelyn, a robot.”

“Kim Possible,” Kim said indicating herself. This is my partner, Ron Stoppable.”

“She’s a robot?” Ron asked in confusion.

“I am,” Kaelyn confirmed.

“I see,” Kim responded.

“So, you’re investigating the flicker that affected the power systems in this town?” Kaelyn asked.

“Yes,” Kim answered.

“I don’t think It came from here,” Kaelyn said.

“And yet we tracked it here,” Ron added.

“I need to check something, then,” Kaelyn responded.

“Sure,” the Doctor said.

Kim watched as Kaelyn checked the systems over.

“Somehow, something was triggered remotely,” Kaelyn reported a few minutes later.

“So, you didn’t do it?” Kim asked.

“No,” Kaelyn answered.

“So, it was someone else?” the Doctor asked.

“I would know if it was my family who ordered it,” Kaelyn responded.

‘Family, not owners,’ Kim thought. She considered that a good sign. She looked at her again. If she didn’t know she was artificial, she would have thought she was like any other human.

“It may have been cracked, or there was a program set up to detect the portal, and wait,” Kaelyn said.

“So, it could have been something one of your family did?” Ron asked.

“Yes, we’ll go back upstairs, and then I’ll call one of them.”

“Sure,” Kim said. ‘It would be better than staying down here,’ she added to herself.

“Good idea,” Ron said. She knew that he would consider it creepy.

“Right,” the Doctor agreed.

Kaelyn entered the kitchen, followed by Kim and Ron, with the Doctor trailing behind. “It’s about time for ‘morning tea’ wouldn’t it be?”

“Yes,” the Doctor answered.

“More like supper,” Kim said. “As it’s evening in Middleton.”

“I haven’t checked on the portal yet,” Kaelyn said. “But you are going to have something? Right?”

“Sure,” Kim said.

“Are you sure?” Ron asked.

Kim nodded.

“Right. You could order from Beano Nacho, right?” Ron asked.

“Ron!” Kim exclaimed.

“Sorry, Lawndale doesn’t have one of those,” Kaelyn said.
