Daniel 9:1 - 21
Thriving through change
Change is difficult.
Especially when it comes to the world's values.
Jeremiah 25:7 - 14
Daniel prayed that it would come about.
vs 3, 4
The prayer was intense. He humbled himself in a posture of humility and was emotionally involved.
va 4 - 6
Galatians 3:13
Our identity is in Jesus.
How do you and I ask mercy for a sinful nation of which we are citizens?
How do we pray for healing for a church whose spirit has been tarnished by sin and neglect?
vs 7 - 19
His prayer is full of urgency and passion.
God can step in and change things.
We need to come to God with humility and repentance.

Darius, like most ancient, and not so ancient, kings and emperors, had delusions of grandeur.
Eunuchs as a way to prevent infidelity.
Deuteronomy 23:1
Was Daniel a eunuch?
Quite likely
2 Kings 20:14 - 18
How would this affect Daniel?
Isaiah 56:3 - 5
God says; "If you humble yourself and come to me, I will accept you."
The Jews were spreading their faith.
Matthew 7:24 - 27
Daniel built on the rock.
Daniel knew in his heart that God was real. He continued praying openly, despite Darius' decree.
Daniel 6

The young men.
Daniel understood the implications of what was happening. The training program was to influence them to follow the Babylonian culture.
vs 8
Daniel decided not to defile himself. His determination was based on some spiritual understanding.
The meat and the wine?
Daniel knew God.
God is calling people to repent. It was the same in Daniel's day as it is today.
Daniel's resolve to see what was happening around him through God's perspective.
Daniel didn't put his rights above God's call.
It is the same for us today.
Daniel spent the entire Exile in the Babylonian palace.
Change is a constant.
This isn't a surprise to God.
