73. Aladdin (2019)
Rewatch. This story of the ‘Diamond in the rough’ also holds up. The genie was portrayed well enough, as was Princess Jasmine. However, some aspects suffered due to the adaptation to live action (mostly related to Jafar, but it didn’t really detract from his villainy), but not many. It is still rather good, with early foreshadowing that pays off towards the end. Aladdin may be much the same, but other characters are either further developed or are different enough. Overall, it was a good film.
Rewatch. The story of the ‘Diamond in the rough’ who doesn’t buy that he’s a ‘Street Rat’ holds up. Not only because of the way the Genie is portrayed, but also because of the animation, which easily shows the emotions of the characters. The way Princess Jasmine chafes at what was expected of her in her position was well portrayed. Jafar’s villainy was also rather well done. The collision of Aladdin’s attempts at courting the princess and Jafar’s ambition made for a very good story.
