Challenge #13

In your own space, rec three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

These could be your all-time favorites, fanworks that fit a certain theme, or the last three fanworks you read/viewed/listened to and loved. If you’re looking for a way to make today’s challenge more *coff* interesting, how about rec’ing in small fandoms or rare pairs? A compilation of fanworks that make a great introduction to a fandom?

For the purposes of this challenge, a fanwork is defined as any creative endeavor for a fandom – fic, podfic, art, crafts, vids, meta... If you love it and someone else created it, please share it!

Don’t feel limited (or obligated) to make three recs. One or two is good, and so is a dozen. Just share some fandom love!

The Dragon and the Butterfly (Encanto/How to Train Your Dragon): https://archiveofourown.org/works/36588493/chapters/91257112
Hiccup flees Berk after befriending Toothless and ends up in the Encanto, where he ends up helping Mirabel figure out what's going on with the Madrigal's Miracle.

Paint and Powder (Star Trek): https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/star-trek-paint-and-powder-a-star-trek-shipgirl-concept-thread.900368/
Star Trek with Artificial Intelligence Shipgirls. (Warning: Discovery and Picard bashing)

Daria in Morrowind (Daria/Elder Scrolls): https://archiveofourown.org/series/1454395 (The Morgendorffers move from western Cyrodil to Balmora, Morrowind in the mid 3rd Century TE. Most of the Daria characters are Dunmer)
Challenge #10

In your own space, create a fanwork. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Don't think I only mean "write some fic" with this, though please do write some fic if you like, but also consider art, icons, graphics, podfics, musical scores, meta, fibre arts, vids, recipes, or whatever other combination of the words "fan" and "work" that strike your fancy. Have fun with it!

Daria Comforts Quinn
It had been a long day at school and Daria wanted to rest in her room before doing homework. However, as she walked to her room, she heard something unexpected. Quinn was crying. "What?" she asked herself as she listed. It was definitely Quinn, not her friend Stacy, who was always one to burst into tears. Against her better judgement, she opened the door. "Quinn?" She then saw that her sister on her bed crying.

"Daria?" Quinn asked through tears. "Go away!"

"I never see you like this. I've seen you when you're upset when you don't get your way, or when Mom puts her foot down about your shopping, and those times are far from this."

Quinn let out a sob.

"I'm not going, yet."

"Alright, alright! It was because I wrote something they didn't like! They didn't have to read it."

"Oh," Daria said as she sat beside her sister. "Sometimes people attack the other person, rather than say nothing about what they have written."

"I can see why. Like how my friends used to rip into other's fashions. But none of us were like that, not even Sandi at her worst!"

"I see that you've seen the error of your ways," Daria said. "So, what was it you wrote that had someone attack you over."

"Oh, a short scene of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy reconciling," Quinn admitted quietly.

"Oh, fan fiction is even less of a reason to attack someone over!" Daria said vehmently, surprising herself. She then offered a hug.

Quinn accepted it and said. "Thanks, Daria. This has made me feel a little better."

Daria smiled as she got up. "Good. And maybe I could help you with grammar in future. If you want."

"Deal!" Quinn said as she also got up.
Challenge #7

In your own space, interact with a community or a fic. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Here's some ideas if you need them:

Go to AO3 and sort the fics in your favorite fandom by comments, and leave a comment on the one that has the least.

Fic commented on: https://archiveofourown.org/works/44192392

If you would like to find a community that suits your interests, try [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's Follow Friday tag. The communities are sorted by topic. Maybe post something relevant in one of those communities.

Challenge #5

In your own space, tell us about 3 creative/fannish resources, spaces, or communities you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom or like many people at the moment, fannishly adrift right now) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Daria

The Paperpusher's Message Board: http://www.thepaperpusher.net/forum/
The oldest message board in Daria Fandom, with messages from as early as the 2000s. Requires registration to view (with new members required to post at least once within two days).

The Lawndale High Board: https://lawndale-high.freeforums.net/
A much newer message board (created after difficulties with the previous administration of PPMB). Also requires registration to view (but without the requirement to post wthin two days).

Both boards aren't all that busy, given the age of the fandom, so all the merrier. (And maybe that Jodie movie will bring in new people?)

Daria Fandom Blog 2: http://dariablog2.blogspot.com/
Where a member of the fandom publishes links to new and/or updated fanfiction and discussions and announcements within the fandom.

And a fandom wiki: https://dariawiki.org/wiki/Main_Page
Challenge #4

In your own space, add something to your fandom’s canon. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Daria Morgendorffer finds more than one friend who is similar to her during her first semester of College. At the same time, her sister Quinn finds that she's interested in Mathematics after Ms. Li ropes her into tutoring Kevin Thompson.
