The group arrived back at the Morgendorffers twelve hours after they had left. “And so, we're back,” Quinn said dramatically. “The day is almost over.”
“It was mostly a good day,” Jane said.
“How many sketches did you get?” Kristen asked. “I know you were talking to Keith a while.”
“A few,” Jane answered.
“That's cool,” Kristen said.
“I'm not not upset that Daria wasn't allowed in,” Jane added.
“I knew that,” Kristen said.
“Dinner is almost ready,” Helen said.
“Good!” Quinn said. “It's been a long day.”
“I can tell,” Helen said. Quinn looked quite tired.
“And was Daria angry when she came in?” Quinn asked.
“She was. She said that she wasn't allowed into Kristen's.”
“Mrs. Bell said that it was because of what Kristen said about her.”
“I see,” Helen considered. “And what was that?”
Quinn explained.
Helen took it in. It was what she had expected. “I'll talk to her.”
It was a tense dinner. Daria focused on the food in front of her only taking occasional bites from it. She knew Quinn had brought up the fact that she had been turned away from the Leung-Bell's.
“Daria?” Helen asked.
“Yes?” Daria asked.
“You want to talk about what you told me earlier?”
“No.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes!”
The rest of the dinner went by in awkward silence. Helen knew that her older daughter wouldn't speak about what happened, despite what she said to the other one.
“Daria, you didn't have to go to Kristen's!” Quinn said as they went up the stairs.
“I didn't?” Daria challenged.
“No, you didn't! Jane and Jen had it in hand. I don't know what you have against me, but you're not taking advantage of me for your project!”
“That's not what I'm doing!”
“It totally is!” Quinn shot back.
“No it isn't!”
“Yes it is! Daria, you've always had it in for me!” Quinn said she entered her room. She slammed the door, causing the house to shake.
“Jane?” Daria asked as she turned around.
“Yes, amiga. I got that,” Jane said, feeling guilty. She looked to Jen, beside her. She just looked sad, but she was sure that she felt guity too.
“We're going home now,” Jen said.
“We'll talk about it tomorrow,” Jane said as she gave the camera to Daria.
Daria watched her friends go. She did what she had to. She turned and skulked back into her room.
Helen didn't like it at all. Daria had avoided her all evening. She had told Quinn off about slamming her door that hard, but she couldn't blame her. There were many times when she did something similar when she was that age. She closed her eyes, dismissing the image of Rita that had come up unbidden. That was another point, she didn't want her daughters to end up like her and her sisters!
She closed the bedroom door and looked at the sleeping form of her husband. Jake wasn't exactly useless, but there were times that she wished that he was more, competent, as a co parent.

Quinn awoke in a panic, having remembered her confrontation with Daria, and the fact that Jane was recording. “I have to find Jen!” she said as she bolted out of bed. She switched on her PC. But she soon saw that Jen wasn't online yet. 'Of course. It's still early!” She then got dressed.
She left home after a quick breakfast.
Jen awoke to her mother telling her that a friend was over early. “Who?”
“Quinn,” her mother said.
“I'll be right there.”
“Quinn?” Jen asked as she entered the loungeroom.
“Did Jane record when I told Daria off last night?”
“I'm afraid so.”
“Damn!” Quinn exclaimed.
“But Jane told me after we left, that she felt guilty about it.”
“But Daria would still want to use it, right?”
Jen just nodded.
“Great! I would like you and Jane to try to dissaude her.”
“I'll try at least.”
“Thanks.”
As Quinn left Jen's place, she didn't feel much better, but she knew that Jen would try her best.
After Quinn left, Jen did also, heading to Jane's. She entered through a door Trent had left unlocked and went to the kitchen. She started making breakfast.
