Quinn and the others reached the food court after looking at a few stores. Quinn laid out the diagram. “Should we have morning tea first?” she asked.

“Meaning healthy snacks?” Xavier asked.

“Of course,” Josie said.

“What’s wrong with that?” Sam asked.

“Nothing,” Xavier. “I’d just like something tasty.”

“Meaning chocolate?” Quinn asked.

“Yes,” Xavier answered, with a little nervousness in his voice.

“In moderation,” Quinn said. “And not every day.”

“Of course, not every day!”

“But which store?” Josie asked.

“Any of them?” Jamie said, looking around.

“Let’s have a look first,” Sam said.

“Probably,” Quinn said. She thought for a moment. “I agree with Sam.”

“Sure,” Jamie said.

Daria and the others found Books by the Ton. ‘Cool,’ she thought. She turned to Brittany.

“So, what did you want to get?”

“I’m not sure,” Brittany said after a moment of hesitation.

‘Or is she sure, but she doesn’t want to tell me?’ Daria wondered. “There’s plenty of time to look,” she said.

“Of course,” Brittany said. She then went towards the sports section.

“Of course,” Daria said.

“What are you looking for?” Jennifer asked.

“More great literature,” Daria answered.

Jennifer nodded. “Same here.”

They began looking in the fiction section. “I’ve been meaning to find more historical fiction,” Jennifer said.

“That’s good,” Daria said.

“Mostly based on the 18th or 19th Centuries,” Jennifer clarified.

“Those can be rather interesting periods, depending on the storyline.”

Brittany found what she was looking for. ‘Here it is.’ She looked around to see if Daria or Jennifer were close by. They weren’t. She grabbed the book and headed towards the counter.

Jennifer found a book. “Oooh! Edward Rutherford’s Sarum!”

“Sarum?” Daria asked.

“A series of connected short stories set in Wiltshire, England over thousands of years, including the building of Stonehenge and stories in the 18th and 19th Centuries,” Jennifer explained with excitement.

“That actually sounds rather cool,” Daria said. She looked and found a few more copies. “I’ll get a copy too.”

“Cool.”

Brittany found another book. She looked at the back cover blurb. ‘This sounds interesting,’ she thought. She decided to buy it also. She grabbed another couple of books on her way to the counter. She saw that Daria and Jennifer were still looking, so she took the opportunity to make her purchase and wait just outside the store.

“Sarum for both of you, eh?”

“Yes,” Daria answered with a glance at Jennifer.

“It is a great read.”

Brittany saw Daria and Jennifer come out and bounced over to them. “You got something?” she asked.

“Yes,” Jennifer answered.

Daria took out a book.

“Sarum,” Brittany read with a twirl of one of her pigtails.

“It sounds quite interesting,” Daria replied with a hint of nervousness.

“Maybe when you’re finished you can tell me about it,” Brittany suggested.

“Sure.”
