Lillian followed Quinn away from the house into the streets of Lawndale. She hoped Quinn knew where she was going, otherwise they'd both be lost until sunrise. Quinn had ran first, but soon slowed to a jog. Lillian was able to keep up, as she had been involved in athletics since she was in grade school.
They soon entered an older, albeit still slightly upscale, area of Lawndale, where Quinn approached a house with a strange sculpture in the front yard.
Helen wasn't sure how to react after Quinn had ran off and Lillian (Daria as she was absolutely sure) had followed her. She had to do something! She turned to Ronnie. “We're going to have to find your sisters,” she siad.
“Is she really Daria?” Ronnie asked.
“No,” Jake said, in a tone of denial.
“Jake! Will you get a grip! She looks exactly like Daria would at that age,” Helen said. “Therefore she's telling the truth.”
Jake thought for a moment. “Right! Let's find them!” He said.
They soon rushed to Helen's car.
Jane came down the stairs to the frantic knocking at the door. She wasn't sure who it would be, so she had grabbed one of the loose banisters and was ready to wield it as one would a baseball bat. She opened the door. “Quinn?” she asked as her new friend rushed inside.
“Quick!” Quinn directed. “Close the door?”
“What?” Jane asked as she looked out. There was someone else out there. Was she Quinn's sister? “What's going on?”
The other girl came running up. “Quinn! Why did you run to a friend's place?” she asked. She wasn't breathing as heavily as Quinn was.
'Good stamina,' Jane thought. But she was still wondering what was going on. Good thing Trent was home, and awake.
Quinn turned her back to the door and said. “Jane, would you please tell Lillian to leave!”
Jane looked at Lillian, who was wearing an unreadable expression. “Not until I know what is going on here.”
“I'm Quinn's long lost sister,” Lillian said.
Lillian looked at this Jane. It looked like she didn't believe her when she said that she was Quinn's long lost sister. She also seemed to be at a loss for words.
“Is this true?” Jane asked Quinn after a minute.
“It can't be!” Quinn objected.
“Why not?” Jane asked.
“This Lillian shows up when we're about to start dinner and claims to be my long lost sister Daria!”
'Sounds like a soap opera,' Jane mused with annoyance. It could have been out of The Young and the Restless or Days of our Lives. “So, is it Lillian or Daria?”
“Both.”
“Both?” Jane asked.
“I was given the name Daria when I was born. After I ran away I told the family that took me in my name was Lillian. I have used it ever since.”
'That explains it, I suppose,' Jane thought.
“No!” Quinn exclaimed.
Lillian sighed. “What is it with you, Quinn?”
'That's not the right...' Jane began thinking before...
“What's with me!” Quinn exclaimed. “What's with ME? What's with you!”
“Woah!” Trent said from the top of the stairs, interrupting Quinn's diatribe.
Lillian took the opportunity to step fully inside and closed the door behind her. Clearly something to do with her departure had affected Quinn, but what? She wasn't sure what to make of Quinn's friend and her brother. 'Surely her parents would have reacted by now?' Maybe they were out.
Quinn was still seething. “You can't be back! Not as Daria!” Quinn then hugged Jane.
“What's happening, Janie?” the brother asked.
“Not quite sure,” Jane admitted over Quinn's sobbing. “A long lost sister, returning?”
“Hmm. Let's talk about this over dinner.”
“Sure,” Jane said. She looked at Lillian. “Want to join us?”
“Yes,” Lillian said. She wanted to help Quinn if she could.
After some rushing, Jake, Helen and Ronnie started looking for Quinn and Lillian/Daria. “But we don't know where they may have gone!” Jake whined.
“They can't have gone far,” Helen said.
“But...”
“No buts,” Helen said. She was determined to find her two older daughters. “I know Quinn has made a friend.”
“So, we're going there?” Jake asked.
“Yes, but I didn't quite catch the address.”
“Great!”
