During her final weeks in office, Hillary Clinton is a lame duck. Upon taking office Trump tries to pursue his agenda. However, both Congress and the courts oppose it, especially his ‘travel ban’ from various Muslim majority countries.

One World Trade Centre is completed, after the loss of the previous building in a terrorist attack some years prior.

Star Trek: Discovery starts streaming on CBS All Access (which would be renamed to Paramount + in 2021). It is the first new Star Trek in over a decade.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi released. It would prove divisive.

Barbados holds a referendum on whether to become a republic. This fails, but another one in 2021 would pass.

Costa Rica gains full independence from Mexico. (Previously having a kind of Dominion Status).
South America


Europe
In the United Kingdom the Brexit referendum is held. The unexpected result is 54% in favor of leaving the European Union.

In Spain, the Galian, Basque and Catalonian Goverments begin discussing the possibility of independence referendums.

In Russia, Putin purges the remaining Rationalist influence in the Duma. He also bans all films that portray the country in a negative light.

Asia
The war in Afghanistan continues.

The Syrian Civil War continues.

The Yemeni Civil War continues.

It took a while for her to find a place that sold newspapers.

On Baffin, Alpha waited for Aialah to report in. “Computer, tune into the radio stations in the settlement Crewman Aialah has beamed down into.”

“Affirmative.”

A list of station frequencies came up on the viewscreen.

“Monitor the stations for the name of the settlement.”

The Console Room was oddly comforting, with a soothing rhythm slowly building up as Daria closed the doors and approached the Console. “OK, search for information on the internet and the internal database,” she said, hoping that would work.

The TARDIS gave a ding and a search window came up on one of the monitors.

Daria then typed in the search window.

Middleton, Colorado

Information then came up.

“So, it does exist here,” she said to herself and wondered if the Doctor and Quinn had indeed found information on Lawndale on the other side of the portal.

Where were they anyway? ‘They should be on the way here now,’ she thought. “Locate the Doctor,” she instructed the TARDIS.

A map of Lawndale came up with a blip a third of the way from High Hills Park.

“Thanks,” she said. She wrote down the information on Middleton and the location indicated on the map in a small notebook.

After several more minutes of rest, she then left the TARDIS.
