“I know I can’t prove it,” Andrea said.
“Your word against mine,” Quinn said, with an edge to her voice.
“But I know you have been egging Joey, Jeffy and Jamie on.”
“So what? One has to draw attention in some way!” Quinn blabbed.
Andrea raised her eyebrow again.
“Oops,” Quinn murmured. She put herself in some kind of defensive stance.
She didn’t recognise that stance, but then she was hardly an expert in martial arts. ‘What? She wants to fight me? Or is it a bluff?’
Jeffy watched as Quinn and Andrea stood off against each other. ‘Are they going to fight, or what?’
After a short stand-off, Quinn backed off. “Later,” she said.
Andrea gave her a look that seemed to say; ‘let’s see about that.’ She then turned to him and the other two. “Now! I don’t want to come over to break you three up again.”
“He started it!” Joey accused.
“He did not!” Jamie said.
“It doesn’t matter who started it!” Andrea projected. “What did I just say?”
“Right…” Joey considered.
Andrea left Quinn and the Three J’s. “Manipulative little princess…” she mumbled. She wondered how she and Daria were so different.
Of course, while that was going on, Sandi and Tori weren’t idle. Sandi caught the trail end of Andrea’s conversation with Quinn. ‘It would have been unbecoming of a Fashion Club member to get a physical altercation,’ she thought.

She pulled up in front of the large two-story house. “Here we are. I’ll see if Quinn wants to come with when I pick up Mike.”
“Thanks.”
All things considered it was a good night, Quinn considered as she arrived at the gatehouse with Mack and Jodie. She took off her soggy suede shoes. Mack’s sister soon arrived. It wasn’t surprising to her that Daria had gone home early. “Hi, Robbie,” she said, Mack having told her her name earlier.
“Going straight home?” Robbie asked.
“Yes,” Quinn said.
“Cool.”
‘I have a great future in Lawndale,’ Quinn thought as they drove away.
Lawndale High, October 19th, 9:42 AM
“Class, I thought today we'd take a break from the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet to discuss the real-life tragedy that happened last night here in Lawndale. Let's share our feelings of violation following the loss of our beloved cybercafé, alt.lawndale.com,” Mr. Timothy O’Neill said to his Sophomore Language Arts class. He looked at one of the other students.
‘As long as he doesn’t look in my direction,’ Daria thought, not for the first time.
“Charles. Charles did you hear me?”
“You mean, Kevin?” Kevin Thompson said.

“Thanks,” the other girl said. “Come this way.”
The girl handed Quinn a book on Maryland. “Thanks, um…”
“Kim. You’re Welcome.”
“Quinn,” she said, indicating herself. “See ya.”
As she walked away, Quinn heard a strange cell phone ringtone and Kim answering it with “What’s the ‘sitch?”

They soon came to a subway station. It wasn't that crowded. Clara looked at the schedule. The next train would arrive within five minutes.
