The last episode of the second season. Cerritos sets of to assist the USS Archimedes (an Obena class ship captained by Sonya Gomez) with a first contact. In other news, Captain Freeman has accepted a promotion, which has Mariner up in arms. But other things are also happening, such as Rutherford having an error message cropping up in his implant. Upon arrival at the system the Archimedes is hit by a meteoroid field that knocks out their power. The solution, to strip the outer hull from Cerritos to take it through the field, was inspired.
A few appropriately tense scenes. Cetacean Ops! (reminding me of seaQuest DSV, with Darwin). The resolution to Rutherford’s issue leaves a few questions. (Section 31? Or someone else?) But the ending! Definitely seems out of nowhere, but it had been built up to. How Captain Freeman’s name would be cleared is uncertain, but I can wait to find out. 9.45/10.
