Sisters Daria and Quinn Morgendorffer both arrived home at the same time. Quinn had been out with one of her regular three dates at Chez Pierre. Daria had been to a movie with her boyfriend, Tom Sloane.

“Hi, Daria.”

“Hi, Quinn,” Daria said as she unlocked the door. She noticed that only her father's car was in the drive way. Their Mom must have been working one of those 18 hour days.

As soon as the sisters were in the door, a flash of light emanated from the living room. They were knocked off their feet...

Daria got up first. “What just happened?” she looked in the living room. “Impossible,” she said.

“Oh yes. It is possible,” Jodie Landon said, as she emerged from the large machine that had appeared in the room....

“Some sort of time mechanic?” Quinn asked.

Daria shook her head at Quinn's malapropism.

“Time machine, yes,” Jodie answered.

“Why here?” Quinn asked.

“And from how far in the past or future are you?” Daria asked.

“The past, but only by a few minutes,” Jodie answered.

“A few minutes?” Daria asked.

“As for why here? Why not?” Jodie asked rhetorically. “My father said that I could test the time machine that we had been building over the past few years, and that I could bring others on the time journey.”

“I see,” Daria said.

“What about Mack?” Quinn asked.

Jodie sighed. “He made me promise not to let him know about it,” she said in an annoyed tone.

“Oh,” Daria said.

“So, are you interested?” Jodie asked.

“Yes!” Quinn said.

“I suppose I must come along too,” Daria said.

“Great, Daria,” Jodie said.

“But we need some preparation. To get some food and clothes, in case something happens. And some water of course. Shouldn't take too long, about ten minutes.”

“Of course, Daria! You get the food and water!” Quinn said. She dashed upstairs.

'Of course, she wants to get lots of clothes,' Daria said.

Ten minutes later, the Morgendorffers were ready to travel in time. They boarded Jodie's time machine with the supplies.

“Do you want anyone else to come along?” Jodie asked.

“Jane,” Daria answered immediately.

“Stacy,” Quinn answered, straight afterwards.

“We'll go to Jane's first,” Jodie decided.

“Sure,” Quinn said.

Jane was mixing coffee in the kitchen when she heard a strange sound in the lounge room. She went to investigate and found Daria, Quinn and Jodie. “How did you get in here?” She asked. “I'm sure that the doors are locked.”

“Time machine,” Jodie said, pointing out the vehicle behind her.

“That's impossible,” Jane said.

“Obviously, it's not,” Daria said.

“Wow!” Jane said as the situation sank in.

“So, you want to come with us?” Jodie asked.

“Where are we going?” Jane asked,

“We haven't decided yet,” Daria said.

“I see,” Jane said. She had some ideas.

“We're going to Stacy's next,” Quinn said.

“Sure,” Jane said.

Stacy was downstairs, playing the PlayStation (Specifically, Final Fantasy VII), when Jodie's time machine came out of time.

That event frightened her so much that she fainted.

“Oh, dear!” Quinn said as she exited the time vehicle. “Daria, get the smelling salts,” she directed.

“Smelling salts?” Daria asked.

“They're in the pile of clothes,” Quinn said.

“I found them,” Jodie said, as she came out. She gave them to Quinn.

Quinn held the salts to Stacy's nose and she soon came to.

“Qu-Quinn?”

“Sorry for that scare, Stacy,” Quinn said.

“It's my father's time machine,” Jodie said.

“Although I'm not sure how Mr. Landon figured out time travel,” Jane said.

“Not just my Dad, but also many scientists and engineers working for him,”

“Of course,” Jane said.

“So, this wouldn't be the first unit, right?” Daria asked.

“No, there were many prototypes before this one,” Jodie answered.

“Right, But where are we going?” Stacy asked.

“I haven't decided. I was thinking you would be able to decide,” Jpdie said.

Daria thought. There was all of history to choose from. But points in history where travellers from the future wouldn't be able to cause a massive change just by being there, might be few and far between. 'Can I trust Stacy and Quinn not to mess things up?' she pondered. There was also the issue of language. The further back, the less intelligible English would become. 'Even in Shakespeare's time.'

“I have it!” Stacy said.

“Stacy?” Quinn asked.

“The Titanic!” Stacy said.

“You mean that famous ship that sank?” Quinn asked.

“Yes,” Stacy answered.

Daria supposed that was a good choice, as long as they didn't get tempted to try to save the victims of the sinking, or interfere with the sinking itself. “Good idea,” she said.
