- A discipline
- A Christian discipline

An excercise in spiritual discipline
Allows us to focus on Him:?

It isn't something for impressing God.

Matthew 6:6 - 18

A Gateway through which God can use the person?

The Pharasees' fasting - Jesus condemned them for their attitude.

Acts 10: 1 - 8
James 4: 1 - 12
We either surrender to God, or to Devil and the forces of this world.

It is a humbling process

God instantly gained Saul's attention
Before Ananias found him, he had fasted for three days.

Ephesians 2:10.
He wants us to connect with Him

It is not meant to be a religous routine

Isaiah 58: 4, 5
Their hearts were not in the fasting.

We need to examine ourselves.

Fasting to impress others isn't worth anything.
God sees what is inside!

A connection to humility and weakness.

It is God's strength, not ours, that's important
