Excerpt from: The Doctor and Sarah – Deadly Assassin

That would suggest he is preparing either to run for his life, or to fight for his life,” Engin explained.
 
“But he can’t be, can he? Who or what is he fighting?” Spandrell asked.
 
“Clearly something,” Sarah answered.
 
“Presumably another mind,” Engin said.
 
“You mean there is another living mind in the Matrix?” Spandrell asked.
 
“That’s exactly what it is,” Sarah blurted.
 
“We’re only speculating, understand,” Engin said.
 
 
Matrix
A person dressed as a game hunter shoots at the Doctor, but misses. The Doctor continues to run.
 
“Water, he’s going to need water,” the hunter said. He went off leaving his equipment behind. The Doctor soon found it, and booby trapped it. When the hunter returns, he is nearly caught in an explosion.
 
“It didn’t get him. If it did, this nightmare would have ended.”
 
“All right, Doctor. A good try, but not good enough,” the hunter said.
 
The Doctor arrived at a pool. Soon there is another confrontation...
 
 
Records Room
A guard entered the room.
 
“Yes?” Spandrell asked.
 
“Message from the Chancellor, sir. He’d like the Doctor brought to him,” the guard said.
 
“Impossible, he’s busy,” Sarah interjected.
 
“Who are you?” the guard asked.
 
“Solis, is it?” Spandrell asked.
 
“Yes,” the guard, Solis, answered.
 
“This is the Doctor’s assistant,” Spandrell said, indicating Sarah.
 
“You’ll have to wait. It’ll be over soon, one way or the other,” Engin said.
 
“He’s been in nearly four minutes. How long can a living man exist in there?” Spandrell asked.
 
“Come on, Doctor, you can do it!” Sarah said.
 
“I’ve no data available, but his body’s on the point of collapse now. Low blood pressure, low respiration, carbon dioxide increasing. He can’t last much longer.

“Must keep going, must keep going.”
