Daria: Stacy’s Interest
1 February 2000
Lawndale, Marylvania, United States of America
Junior Stacy Rowe approached Lawndale High. Her friend Sandi Griffin met her as she entered the red brick building through the main double doors.
“You’re, like, early for a change, Stacy,” Sandi said.
“Huh?” Stacy aked.
“You, like arrive at 8:45. It’s actually 8:30,” Sandi said.
“Oh,” Stacy said. ‘But now I have to spend more time with her!’ she thought.
“Yeah,” Sandi said.
Stacy timidly followed Sandi deeper into the school.
“...And so, Caesar crossed the Rubicon. Can anyone tell me why this had the Authorities in Rome stirred up?” Mr. Anthony DeMartino said.
A teen girl with shoulder length brown hair and trapezoidal glasses put up her hand.
“Yes, Cindy?”
“By doing so, Caesar broke the law,” Cindy Brolsma said.
“Correct, Ms. Brolsma, Caesar didn’t cross the Rubicon alone, he lead his troops across, thereby sending the Roman Republic further down the path to Empire.”
Stacy put her hand up.
“Yes, Ms. Rowe?”
“Haven’t we gone over this before?”
“Good observation, Ms. Rowe. We have gone over it. However revision is a good way of learning. Maybe this time it will stick in your brains!”
“But it’s already in my brain,” Stacy complained.
After school Stacy and her friend Quinn Morgendorffer left the school buildings. It had been a boring day. Mr. DeMartino wasn’t the only teacher doing revision. Not by a long shot. (Given that Stacy had a near photographic memory, she felt that it wasn’t necessary)
“What are you doing tonight, Quinn,” Stacy asked.
“A relaxing evening, a date with Jeffy at Chez Pierre, followed by a movie,” Quinn said.
“Oh,” Stacy said.
“What are you doing?”
“Going home, going out,” Stacy said, evasively. She didn’t want to tell Quinn her real plans. As much as they were close friends, she didn’t think it would be a good idea.
Quinn looked at Stacy with a quizzical expression.
At 5:15 a disguised Stacy entered Mr. Fun’s Games, one of the most popular arcades in Lawndale.
