2 November 2014
Philippians 2:1 - 11
Paul was asking the Philippians to take heed of what he was about to say.
vs 2
He wanted the Philippian Church to be united in Christ
vs3
Paul isn't talking about level of ability, he's talking about importance. We need to humbly regard others, better than ourselves.
We need to ake time to be with, or to listen to, others.
vs 9 - 11
Death wasn't the end.

9 November
Pray for - least reached people groups.
7064 least reached people groups (some groups counted once for each nation they occur in).
Nearly 3 Billion people haven't heard of Jesus!

Colossians 4:3
2 Corinthians 4:4
Ephesians 1:7
2 Peter 3:9
Matthew 6:10
2 Thesselonians 3:1

'Saviour, Lead me to the Cross'

Philippians 3:1 - 11
Confidence can be placed in the completely wrong things. (e.g. The favourite for the 2014 Melbourne Cup, who came last, and then died!)

We cannot have confidence in the flesh.

v2
'Dogs' - Judaisers
- Those who believed that one had to be Jewish before becoming Christian...

We are circumcised in the heart
- What matters is what our attitude is

Deuteronomy 10:16
Deuteronomy 30:6
Romans 2

God is interested in what is in our hearts.
The Judaisers had confidence in the flesh

16th November

'The Old Rugged Cross'

1 Corinthians 11

Philippians 3:12 - 4:1
Paul acknowledges that he is still a work in progress, he is not yet perfect. No one is perfect, we're all works in progress.
We should be straining forwards - to be in Christ.

Our Citizenship is in heaven
We need to adapt our values for there.

23 November
'Come, Now is the Time to Worship'

Psalm 95

'Great is Your Love'
'Water You Turned into wine'
'And as we lift up our hands'
'Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus'

Philippians 4:2 - 9

Our World
- TV
- Media
- Attitudes of Selfishness & Self forfillment
- Fear & Pessimism

We need to carve out our own space where worldly attitudes don't penetrate
Our Thinking needs to be different from the rest of the world, especially in the Church.

vs 2, 3
Paul wanted the two women to get along.
Disunity in a local church is a very destructive thing!
If you see a problem, you need to do something about it.

vs 4, 5
Rejoice in the LORD
- for what you have
- for Eternal Life

vs 6
(Depression - 1 in 5 in Australia suffer from it at some point in their lives)

We need to focus on what is true, specifically God's truth
And on what is noble
All Positive - nothing negative

30 November
Colossians 1:15

'Over Star Filled Skies'

Philippians 4: 8 - 12
Paul had learnt to be content whatever the circumstances he was in.
He was on a journey with God.

Some marks of maturity
Where our concern for others is greater than that for ourselves
When we not only understand a task but have the fortitude to stay with it until it is done.
When we have a willingness to accept correction

Paul had to learn to be content
There are many failures on the pathway to contentment
But he tried again.

Learning the secret of self sacrifice
Accept that there are things a Christian must give up.
Luke 9:23

Contentment comes from being flexible
Philippians 4:12
Paul had learnt to be flexible enough for any situation

Paul lived with a lack of contentment
Philippians 4:13

Phil 4:8
Fill your minds with what is true and of God, so that you can be content in Him.
