Excerpt from: Legacy of the Doctor – 1x01 Deep Breath

Clara: So where are we now?
 
Susan: Seems to be an ancient spaceship that has been buried for centuries, but now, it’s a larder.
 
Clara: Why hasn’t anyone come for us?
 
Susan: We’re alive. Cheaper than freezing us.
 
Clara: Okay.
 
Clara realises that she still has the sonic screwdriver in one of her pockets.
 
Clara: I have it!
 
Susan: You have what?
 
Clara: Your grandfather’s sonic screwdriver.
 
Susan: Sonic screwdriver?
 
Clara: So, not common Time Lord tech then?
 
She manages to get the sonic into her hands and uses it to loosen her bonds.
 
Susan: Quite a useful device.
 
Clara: Oh, yeah.
 
Susan is aware that Clara’s last statement has some kind of meaning, but she doesn’t want to know at that point.
 
Clara: Susan!
 
An Asian is in the nearest alcove.
 
Susan: Dormant.
 
Clara: How do you know?
 
Susan: I don’t, but I hope so!
 
Both are equally scared.
 
Clara: So, it is these guys who killed the dinosaur?
 
Susan: Yes.
 
They soon come upon the waiter, the half-face man.

“She will be put into foster care,” the doctor said.

The couple looked at each other. They each gauged the other wondering what they were about to do would be a good idea. They hadn't planned on having children, not for a few years yet. “No!” Didi said once she was sure that Stu was deferring the responsibility to her.

“Are you offering to take her in?” the Doctor asked in surprise.

“Yes,” both Stu and Didi said simultaneously.

“You will have to apply at Child Protective Services,” the Doctor said.

They both nodded.
