The first thing he noticed when she entered the room was the haunted look in her eyes. There were, of course, other details, but that was what drew his attention. She looked around nervously at the many people in the room. Did she think that she had nothing to say? That if she did say something that people would consider her an ignoramus?
‘Of course she isn’t,’ he thought, with a shake of his head. It was more that she was anxious due to not knowing most of the people in the room.
