Canada
Tensions continue to rise ahead of the referendum the next year. This is especially so in Quebec, where separatist terrorists bomb an Army recruitment center in Montreal.


United States
President John Fitzgerald Kennedy is assassinated while on a tour of Detroit in mid November. Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson becomes President.

NASA leases the Cape Canaveral site in Florida from the Venetian Government. The Project Mercury continues to launch from Vandenburg in California, but Projects Gemini and Apollo would launch from Canaveral.

Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is exhibited in the United States for the first time, at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The events draws crowds of many people.


Central America
In Panama, the percentage of native speakers of Darien Norse drops below 1 percent.


South America
Tensions in Argentina continue to rise before the Civil War begins the next year. There are demands that economic sanctions (set by the Lusophone Union) be dropped.

United Kingdom
The Beatles release their debut album. By the end of the year the term 'Beatlemania' had been coined.

The long running BBC radio serial Doctor Who follows other serials in making the jump to television. The first televised episode airs on BBC 1 on the 23rd November. Christopher Lee, who is the person currently voicing the Doctor, continues to portray the lead character on the small screen

In Birmingham, the last native speaker of Brittanais (a Romance Language) dies.


Vatican
The latest Vatican Council Concludes. It is decided that Mass would be held in local tongues, rather than in Latin. (In actuality, matching official policy with actual practice in local parishes.)


Asia
The Korean war continues.


Oceania
Hawai'i gains independence from Japan.

Australia
The tensions between Canberra and Copenhagen continue to rise, leading up to the referendum the next year.

The population of Armidale reaches 15300. (Only 400 of those speak Danish as a first language. Most of the rest; English.)
The New England Campus of the University of New South Wales is spun off as the University of New England. (Like most other universities in Australia, the option to be taught in Danish is dropped. Instruction is in English only.)

The population of Dubbo reaches 24000. (Again, the city's population is majority Anglophone.)
The high level LH Ford bridge opens, replacing the older Bultje Street Bridge.


Western Australia
The proportion of Dutch speakers drops below 8%.
