Loki knew this was his chance to escape. The Tesseract was unattended. He grabbed it and teleported. He knew a lot about the various paths of the universe. Places Heimdall was unable to see. But he didn't have to go far. Midgard itself offered some of those places. He appeared in one such place. A HYDRA base in New Jersey. “Welcome back, Loki.”
“Zola,” Loki said, acknowledging the barely sapient AI.
“Your invasion failed. You should have killed Director Fury.”
“If it wasn't for that Coulson, the Avengers wouldn't have succeeded.”
