Complications in New York
“One Hour to Earth,” the ENH reported.

“One hour exactly?” Alpha asked.

“Yes,” the Pilot answered, exactly as he had 23 hours earlier.

“I know you are.”

Aialah was in the Mess Hall. She had had breakfast earlier, but was now reading an overview of Earth as it was in the 20th Century. It seemed that most Earths the Baffin crew had encountered were rather similar until then, with most of the divergences in history between the universes occurring during the course of that century.  She wasn’t sure why that would be the case, considering that other star systems varied widely. “Aye,” Nina said.

“The planetary positions match to Mid-August 2004,” Aialah reported.

“And the radio transmissions?” Alpha asked.

“15th August 2004,” Aialah reported.

“Prepare to drop out of warp and hide behind the moon,” Alpha ordered.

“Aye,” the ENH said.
