“Feel free, Geordi.”
He sat down. “Do you think we’ve been wasting our time?” he asked.
“What do you mean?” Beverly’s son, Wesley, asked.
“I mean, it’s nearly two weeks since we started back from Deneb IV, and we haven’t found anything.”
“It could that the areas of space we’re going through are less active than others closer to the Federation,” Beverly added.
“I have checked our course,” Wesley said. “And we are avoiding star clusters and instead going by isolated stars.”

Voyager jumped to warp without difficulty. “The storm is still causing some turbulence,” Paris reported. “But it’s minor. It’ll be an hour until we’re out of the nebula.”
“Understood,” Janeway said.
“Right,” Chakotay said. “You can’t stay here. You need to move to either your assigned quarters, the Mess Hall, or one of the lounges.”
“Do as he says,” Kes said.
“I’ll go to my quarters,” Hana decided. “Where you can tell me more about the Ocampa.”
“There’s not much to say,” Kes said.
“Maybe not, but I would like to know.”
Even so, the refugees took a while to move, as Voyager still shuddered.
In Engineering, an alarm came up on the Master Systems Display. “What?” Torres asked herself as she responded to the alarm.
“It looks like an EPS conduit is malfunctioning,” Ensign Vorik commented.
“I know that, Ensign!” Torres shot back.
