How do you feel when it's out of control
Providence of God
He has a purpose for it.
His governing activity is universial
He has no limits

Trials bring us closer to God.
We need to put in the effort
God's plan involves human effort
You need to be excited

Joseph had all the power
His brothers had none

Genesis 42:23 - 28
Joseph feared God, he was accountable to Him, Joseph changed his mind regarding his brothers because of this.
His brothers were wracked with guilt.

Jacob is fearful of loosing Benjamin as he lost Josepth

They are very fearful, their sins hung heavily upon them.
Joeseph is not fearful. He is compassionate
We need to respond with a sense of faith, not out of fear.

A big pretense
The situation is set up by Joseph to resemble the situation 23 years earlier. Judah steps up and takes control of the situation.

Comparison between Judah and Joseph.
Completely different levels of morality

Judah offfered himself as a slave instead of Benjamin.
This is similar to his descendent, Jesus.

God changed Judah's heart. He can change ours.
It's not about you, it's about being a servant.

He has given us a new hope, that we may live with a great sense of renewal.

When we reflect on what God has done for us, it brings us joy.
Trials burn away our self confidence, and drive us to our Saviour.
