17 Mr. Peabody & Sherman
A film based on the Peabody's Improbable History segments of the Rocky and Bulwinkle cartoon series. A film about the relationship between a genius dog and the boy he adopted. It is also about what happens when the boy starts school and is drawn into an adventure through history with a former bully/new friend. Another plot line is what happens when a threat to that relationship arises. There are many more elements to this movie. One could examine each scene, but there isn't enough space here for that.
There are several sequences set in the past. Ancient Egypt, Renaissance Florence and Troy with the present being set in New York City. The Ancient Egypt sequences uses Ancient Egyptian culture and mythology well, despite getting some details wrong. The Florentine and Trojan sequences are also well done. 8/10.
