Jesus continued to teach during that time.

A witness
It's not what you do, but what you are!

God has placed you where you are.

You are to witness where you are.

Christ is in your life.

An act that allows us to draw closer to God.
Jesus has already done it! It has been done.
How to react to God's mercy?
Allow the mercy to shape how we think and live each day.

- Pure and blameless lives
- Intrisically bonded with Jesus Christ
- Looking forward to Jesus' Return
- So that God would be praised and glorified.

Paul as a Roman Citizen
Roman citizens had rights others didn't.
Philippi as a Roman colony.
Roman culture.

Citizens of God
Christian culture

Contrasting Christian and Roman culture.

Paul was willing to give up his life for the Gospel.
Paul was guarded by the Palace guard. Romans would think he had failed at the Roman dream.
But God was blessing Paul.
Paul was witnessing to the guards, who would then spread the Gospel throughout the Empire.

Luxury and wealth are not measures of success.

Roman culture was very competitive.
