Robert Towns entered the small cafe which lay in the middle of the shopping area which lay between the two universities. It wasn't busy, so he went to the counter and ordered the unusual drink that he had to order. It was different each time, so as to not to provide a pattern. In any case the only time the cafe was busy was on Friday afternoons, when the small stage was used for music, poetry or some kind of lecture (or some combination thereof).
It was just after Wednesday lunch time, a time he was supposed to be in class, but circumstances had conspired so that he was here instead of one of his university's Arts lecture halls. He received his unusual order. “Thanks,” he said quietly. He turned from the counter and looked at the other patrons. He knew the person who he'd be meeting would be someone from the other university that he hadn't met before, but he'd also been told what to look for. It took him less than 20 seconds to determine which one of the other patrons it was.
All the others were intent on something or other on the screen of their devices. The person he was looking for was staring out the window at the greenery in in the middle of the pedestrian mall outside. He walked up to her.

Isabelle Grady saw the man she didn't know come over.

Manned missions occur out to Uranus.

Two low key wars occur on Earth between the two blocks, but recovery occurs before the end of the century.

The first floating settlement in the Venusian upper atmosphere is established by America. (Athenapolis.)

China establishes a colony near Mercury's south pole.

China also establishes a Venusian Floating Settlement.

The United States of Utopia Planetia sues for peace in the Mars War. The Eastern reaches of the States of New Colorado, New Utah and New Sequois are ceded to the Federation of Russian Mars and to the Commonwealth of New Siberia.

With Utopia Plantia out of the war, the UCR states on Mars find themselves under increasing pressure from China, the Mars-Rus and their allies...

Alphabet-Boeing tests another FTL drive. The ship remains under control, but it's velocity tops out at 0.9998c.

The Nihon cities are completely conquered by the Mars-Rus by the end of year.

Also the UCR polity of New Tasmania is also conquered by New Russia. The UCR considers withdrawing from the war.

Erina Robyn Peters is relected as POTUS.

Robert Garrison is elected as the 97th President of the United States of Utopia Planetia.

The Mars War comes to an end, with the Federation of Russian Mars occupying the Nihon Confederated Cities.

New Wales, which had come close to conquest by New Russia, withdraws from the UCR.
