Challenge #2

In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Whether you've been in fandom for a while or just discovered fandom, we'd love to know how you came to fandom! Was it that one book or a TV show or movie or anime/manga or a band/song that gave you that first spark? Or a character or characters that you wanted more of but the canon material just didn't have enough of them? Or were you introduced to fandom by someone?

You can be as brief or detailed as you like: timeline, narrative, bullet points, etc. :D

I have been writing fan fiction since I was a teenager. It may have been Star Trek: Voyager that provided the spark. (But I point out that I had been writing original fiction since I was a pre-teen.) Classic Doctor Who was also something I wrote for early. I joined Fanfiction.net shortly after starting university in 2000. (I didn't start writing for Daria until the DVDs came out in 2010.)

Daria managed to find Sandi alone before homeroom.

Sandi saw that Daria was anxious to tell her something. “Did you find another poem.”

Daria handed her a folded piece of paper. “It’s written there,” she said.

She read what Daria had written, which covered everything from when she met William in the cemetery to when his parents claimed that he had died. “That’s not right at all!” she said in an indignant tone. “I’m tempted to search for him right now, but you have only provided his first name and it’s likely they have snuck him out of Lawndale in the meantime.”

“Quinn and Ted are going to use the Lowdown’s resources to look into their background,” Daria added.

“Right, let me know what they find.”

“I will.”

At the same time, Quinn found Ted and told him about William and what his parents had claimed.

“That’s quite a lot of excitement,” Ted said.

“That’s not how I would describe it,” Quinn said.

“I mean, like when you helped Angie at the beginning of the year.”

“Quite similar, I suppose.”

“I will have a look at the records later,” Ted said.

“Thanks, Ted.”

In between the first and second period, Quinn ran into Brittany in one of the bathrooms.

“We have to investigate,” Brittany said after Quinn had told her what she and Daria had found.

“Hopefully, Lawndale’s first two superheroes can extract him from the danger,” Quinn said quietly.

“If he hadn’t been taken somewhere,” Brittany added.

“I hope not.”

SpiderGirl and Ninja Talon approached the Oscorp office space from an alleyway. “But what are we looking for?” Ninja Talon asked, as she prepared to pick the lock.

SpiderGirl prepared to web up any security cameras. “Anything that could provide information on the glider.”

“Right, and anything related to expansion in Lawndale?”

“Yes.”

The door opened. SpiderGirl immediately webbed a couple of security cameras. “It should be clear now.”

They searched the office quickly but effectively, with Ninja Talon searching filing cabinets and SpiderGirl looking at the computers. “Not that easy,” the latter said. “They’re all logged out.”

“There is another way,” Ninja Talon said as she looked through a folder.

“You mean, hacking?”

“Yes. I know Andrea does.”

“Andrea,” SpiderGirl considered. “The goth one, right?”

“That’s right.”

“Maybe tomorrow night.”

“Found something,” Ninja Talon said. She put some files on a desk.

“Plans for more buildings in the business park,” SpiderGirl considered.

“More expansion…”

“Yes. Let’s photocopy them.”

“And then what?” Ninja Talon said.

“We’ll slip them under the Sun-Herald’s door.”

“Good idea.”
