North America
Tensions begin (or continue) to rise between Spanish and French settlers. There are also tensions between them and the various native peoples. The Zangoza Decree is effective, but it doesn’t deter everyone.

Talking about the Zangoza Decree, some of the Christianising native nations are chafing under the Church’s influence.

The number of slaves in the former Hispaniola continues to increase.


South America
Irish refugees continue to arrive in Tierra del Fuego. More Irish are arriving than there are Spanish settlers.


Europe
Massacres continue to occur in Ireland. Some depopulated towns are resettled, especially in the north.

The British continue repairing their naval strength.

In Spain, various universities find the number of students attending growing.

Tensions increase between the Austrians and the Ottomans.


Africa
There is an uneasy peace between the Spanish and the Ottomans.

There continues to be problems in Morocco as the occasional local rebellion occurs. These are put down quickly.

The slave trade continues to grow…

The Scandinavians expand their influence and colonization in east Africa.

The British colony in Madagascar expands.


Asia
Persian merchants extend their routes to the east and west.

Rebellions against China lose some influence and land.

The Spanish lay claim to the areas of Kamchatka, the Russians haven’t.

In Southeast Asia, the various colonies continue to grow.


Oceania
A Spanish ship that had gone too far south on its way to Australia discovers the Kerguelen Islands.

Further colonial expansion occurs in Australia and New Zealand at the expense of the Aboriginals and Maori.

Spanish settlement elsewhere expands.
