Cashmans was quite far into the mall, so it took about five minutes for the four friends to get there.

“Hi, girls,” Theresa said.

“Hi, Theresa,” Quinn said.

“What do you have there?” Theresa asked.

“Application forms,” Quinn answered. “Do you have one for here?”

“You want a job in Cashmans for the summer?”

“Yes,” Quinn answered.

“Certainly,” Theresa said with a hint of surprise in her face. She went to a drawer and took an application form out of it. She then handed it to Quinn.

“Thanks.”

“What made you think of getting a job here?”

“Something to do instead of my Mom finding something terrible.”

Theresa laughed. “Sounds like my Mom,” she said quietly.

“Ok,” Quinn said wondering why Theresa had divulged that information. She put the application on her pile.

“That’s a large pile,” Theresa stated.

“I’ll come here first.”

“That’s alright, but you may get more offers than you may know what to do with,” Theresa said.

“I guess so,” Quinn said.

“Then you’ll have to choose,” Theresa added.

“I guess I’ll do the one I’d like to do the most,” Quinn decided, after a moment of thought.

Theresa smiled. “That’s the best that you can do in that kind of situation.”

“Yeah.”

“Good luck.”

“Thanks!”

Theresa turned to the others. “Are any of you also applying here.”

“Oh, no, Theresa, I believe that those such as ourselves should have our summer between junior and senior year free,” Sandi said.

“I see,” Theresa said.

“I’m thinking about it,” Stacy said.

“I see,” Sandi murmured.

“You think I could do it?” Tiffany asked.

“If you put your mind to it,” Theresa replied.

Tiffany appeared to be in thought. ‘She would have to work hard, but she can do it,’ Quinn thought.

The four of them soon left Cashmans. Quinn decided to continue her job hunt in the stores closest to Cashmans. Sandi didn’t object. At least not right away...

After going into many stores and meeting a few people they knew, Quinn eventually led her friends to J. J. Jeeters. As she expected Sandi didn’t like that. She didn’t like that at all…

Quinn entered J. J. Jeeters. “Kuh-winn! Why are we in here?” Sandi asked rather haughtily.

Quinn turned to her. “I’m applying for a job anywhere I can, Sandi. I told you that.”

Stacy spoke up. “Quinn can apply anywhere she…” she paused as Sandi glared at that.

Sandi then picked up a nearby shirt. “Look at this, like, totally unattractive!”

“Look, just because I may work here, doesn’t mean I’ll buy what they’re selling!” Quinn said quietly, hoping that whoever would give her the application form wouldn’t hear.

Sandi stuck her nose up further. “I, like, suppose so!”

Quinn went up to the counter. Stacy followed her. “Quinn, Sandi sounds more offended!”

“I know that, Stacy.”

“It’s going to be a big problem!”

“I know,” Quinn said less impatiently.

“I don’t know what you are going to do about it.”

“I don’t know either. But one thing at a time.”

Stacy nodded as Quinn turned to the assistant at the counter.

Stacy and Quinn emerged from J. J. Jeeters. Sandi was impatiently stamping her foot. Tiffany was staring at the Teuton’s Toys store next door. “You have the form?” Sandi asked.

“Of course,” Quinn replied.

“Where else are you, like, dragging us to?”

“There are few more stores here. Then there are the stores on Main Street,” Quinn said.

“I see,” Sandi said.
