27 The Jungle Book
A film based on the short stories by Runyard Kipling. (Morso than the 1967 animated film.) A really good film, portraying the jungle wildlife quite realistically, although there are many species that are misplaced. Other than that, the movie is rather good in that department. The jungle itself was quite well portrayed. The film is also quite well written and directed, with several elements being set up early in the film, being followed up later. For example, a tree that Mowgli was climing on near the beginning of the film, being used during the climax.
Also, the idea of the peace-rock. The rock appearing, and it's later disappearance, leading into Mowgli leaving the wolf pack. Also Shere Khan talking to the wolf cubs about Cukoo birds and their brood parasitism, and an example of such appearing in the very next scene. Also the role that fire plays, and Mowgli's growth as he realizes he can use against Shere Khan. Idris Elba was a great choice for voicing this version of Shere Khan. He was more of a villain here, than in the the '67 version.
Neel Sethi was great as Mowgli. Bill Murray was also good as Baloo, portraying the lazy bear in a believable way. 9/10.
