Chapter 1: 47
Galactic Ranger
The Professor completed her modifications of Mark's phone. “Done, There we go. Universal roaming. Never have to worry about signal again.” She handed the phone back to him.
“No, way. This is too mad. You're telling me I can phone anyone, anywhere in space and time on my mobile?” he asked.
“Yes,” Felix said, holding up his own phone.
“As long as you know the area code. Frequent flier's privlege. Go, on try it,” the Professsor said.
The Galactic Ranger juddered. The Professsor rushed to the helm. “Distress signal! Locking on. There might be a bit of turbulance...” She was intercepted as they were all knocked to the floor.
“Turbulance. Sorry, Come on Mark, Felix. Let's take a look.”
Pentallius
The Professor, Felix and Mark exited the Galactic Ranger's airlock into that tof the Pentallius. Soon they were aboard.
“Distress signal transmitted,” A computer said.
It was very hot. “Whoa, now that is hot!” the Professor said.
“Automated distress signal transmitted.”
“It's like a sauna in here!” Mark complained.
“We docked near the venting systems. They're working at full pelt, trying to cool down. Wel'll if you can't stand the heat!”
The compartment was full of radiator sinks. The Professor remembered the external radiators that were aft of the docking port where she had docked the Galactic Ranger. Why was the ship so hot? “Come on,” she said to Mark and Felix.
Rather quickly they came to a hatch, and just in time too, the temperature was rising rapidly. “Would the Galactic Ranger be safe?” Mark asked as the Professor opened the hatch.
“Don't worry. It's own heat exchange system is more than adequate,” the Professor said in a reassuring tone.”

Chapter 2
Soon, they could see the younger Professor and her companions approaching. One was a young teenaged boy with long dark hair and pigmented spots running down from his temples.
“Who are you, and why are you surrounding my ship?” the younger professor asked.
“I'm an older you,” the older Professsor said, glancing at the boy, Ezra (she found that she missed his company).
“I see,” the younger Professsor said.
“Something has happened. It's a Temporal Crisis,” the older Professsor said.
“What does that mean?” Ezra asked.
“The Professor's home planet is in danger!” Felix said.
The older Professor shook her head. “Not just my home planet, but the whole Galaxy,” she clarified.
“You mean, the Kalenons are attacking?” the younger professor asked.
“The Kalenons are involved, but the Dean is at the top it.”
The younger Professor thought. 'Our arch enemy!' she thought.
Chapter 3: Temporal Difficulty
“This is a difficulty!” The operative thought. “Computer, check the database for the Saratoga's prefix codes.
“Prefix codes not found!”
'Of course, that would have been too easy,' the operative thought. He began to target the Saratoga's manoeuvring thrusters...
The Saratoga rocked, then fell still. “Report!” Sacramento said.
“The port forward manoeuvring thruster is damaged.”
The Saratoga rocked again. “And now the starboard forward thruster.”
“Understood,” Sacramento said. “Disable his slipstream drive.”
“Aye, Ma'am.”
'Of course, Sacramento is persistent!' the Operative thought, as he manoeuvred to keep the bulk of his ship between the Saratoga and his slipstream nacelles. He wasn't that successful. “Activate drones,” he said.
“Confirmed,” the computer said.
The Operative's ship launched attack drones against the Saratoga. They moved to attack, concentrating on the weapons systems.
Captain Sacramento saw the drones launch on the viewscreen. “He's launched tactical drones, Ma'am,” the tactical officer ordered.
“Launch the attack shuttles,” she ordered.
“Yes, Ma'am,” the tactical officer said. She and the Operations officer co-ordinated the launch of the attack shuttles.
“Order them to focus on the drones,” the captain ordered.
“Yes, Ma'am.”
Chapter 4: Trouble in the Bass Sea
“Tomorrow, they will be on the island. They may be setting up a base,” X said.
“Right, but you're not going to tell me where, are you?”
“No, you'll have to find that out yourself.”
“Great! I don't want to put the other members of the team in danger!”
“You may need to,” X said.
Karen sighed. “Understood! But I don't have to like it.”
“Of course not. But these people, aren't like, you Karen. They would have no hesitation to do what it takes to further their agenda. Bear that in mind!” X flashed out, and the quarters returned to their normal state.
'I'll have to get the lay of the land,' Karen thought. He decided to have his team map the shoreline of the island first thing in the morning.
7 August 2008
As soon as the sun rose, Karen lead his team nearest to where the Burridge lay at anchor.
“Something is on your mind,” Sumi said, as the team began to observe the wildlife.
“She came again last night, Sumi,” Karen said.

Excerpt from: The Doctor and Sarah 01: The Deadly Assassin
Runcible looked into the camera, and fainted. ‘What is it?’ Sarah asked herself. She looked herself and saw the shrunken technician there. She screamed.
The Doctor heard the scream. “Sarah!”
“Wait, Doctor!” Spandrell called as he followed.
Sarah was sobbing, as the Doctor, Spandrell and Hildred entered the gallery. “I couldn’t stop him, Doctor,” she said.
“Who, Sarah?” the Doctor asked.
“The Master,” Sarah whispered as she lay against the Doctor for comfort.
“The Master!” the Doctor realised.
“Who?” Spandrell asked.
“A very dangerous man,” the Doctor said. He looked in the camera. “Just as I suspected. Matter Condensation, a technique he picked up somewhere in his travels. He’s a fiend who glories in chaos and destruction.”
“A Time Lord?” Spandrell asked.
“He has his own TARDIS,” Sarah put in.
“His own capsule, eh?” Hildred asked sarcastically.
“Sarah’s right, he has his own TARDIS, not necessarily a Type 40, he was a Time Lord a long time ago,” the Doctor said. He paused. “A lot of things are becoming clearer.”
“Not to me,” Spandrell said.
“If the Master’s here on Gallifrey, then this represents the final challenge. It explains why I was brought here. There are old scores to settle. And that’s just a sort of greeting card,” the Doctor explained.
Runcible finished removing the records from the camera.
“Take it to Records. I’ll have a look at it there,” Spandrell said. He turned back to the Doctor. “I want to know all you can tell me about this Master. And I warn you now, if there is some private feud between you, do not try to settle it on Gallifrey.”
“It cannot be avoided. Like it or not, Gallifrey is involved and I’m afraid things will never be quite the same again,” the Doctor said.
They went down from the gallery back to the Panopticon. “If he’s a Time Lord, there’ll be a DE on him in the archives,” Spandrell said.

“What do you mean?” Daniel asked, as Tabitha entered the room and sat on the end of the bed.
Daniel sat back at the desk.
“You have noticed that quite a few of the girl's have shaved their heads, right?” Tabitha asked as she ran her hand nervously through her own, rather short hair.

Chapter 5
1967
Americas
The New England War continues. The Communists manage to capture territory in Vermont, after some garrisons defect...
In Kansas, a referendum is held regarding the return of rights to non-Christian groups. The Westbro Baptist Church protests the motion, causing gridlock in Topeka on December 12.
In Panama, the number of Costa Rican Refugees is such that the number of Spanish speakers now outnumber English speakers.
The Costa Rican Civil War goes on.
Europe
After referenda are carried out the Republic of Hanover and the City State of Bremen join the UEDE. (The governments were concerned about overdue influence from Paris, prior to this. They decided to put the decision to the people.)
Africa
The Federal Republic of Somalia takes more territory from the People's Federation of Somalia and the Somali Sultanate.
The Communist forces in South Sudan loose territory.
In the People's Republic of Guinea, Ivorian rebels capture more territory.
The Communist forces in Benin are driven further north.
Asia
In Tibet, the People's Liberation Army captures more territory from the Monarchist and Rationalist forces, and wipes out the Ordinist rebels.
The Monarchists also capture ground from the Rationalists.
Danielle put the book aside. The yearly almanac wasn't really helpful. Especially in her trying to gain understanding of the Commonwealth of Nations' role in the Age of Discord. She knew that the Hispanicisation of Panama was caused by the unwillingness of the Commonwealth to even appear racist, but that was only a minor part of the larger picture. She opened the next book, The Fall of Australia-Pacifica: The Age of Discord and Why the Pacific Project Failed. 'This should be a better source,' she thought.
Chapter 6: Breathing Deeply
The waiter shone at green light at Samson from the end of her pencil.
“You have specials, don't you?” Samson asked.
“Liver,” the waiter said.
“Liver. I don't think I like it,” Samson said.
“Eyes, Brain Stem, Spleen.”
“I don't imagine there would be a lot of demand for those,” Clarence said.
“I'm sure that's not what is on the menu. We are what is on the menu!” Samson said.
“Skin, Lungs,” the waiter continued.
Samson reached up and ripped skin from the waiter's face, revealing a metal mesh with a frame behind it.
“Right, a robot in a mask,” Clarence said.
Chapter 7: Robots in Sherwood
Samson emerged from the Galactic Ranger's front airlock. “Plainly there is no one in distress, or castles. Nor there is any such thing as Marian Hood!
An arrow then struck the Galactic Ranger's hull, before falling harmlessly to the ground.
“Show yourself!” Samson called.
A feminine figure dressed in lincoln green popped up from behind a tree on the other side of the stream. “You called? Very nice trick, with whatever that is, sir. I saw a Turk perform something very similar at Nottingham Fayre.
Chapter 8: Dyson Sphere
“I agree.”
They looked around some more, and then headed back to the Operations Centre.
When they arrived at the Operations Centre, Matthews entered her office. Computer, transfer list of personnel to desk unit.”
“Confirmed,” the computer said.
Matthews sat down in the chair.
Chapter 9: Into the Kalenon
“Why don't I believe you?” the commander asked.
“If this was a hospital, you could scan us, right?” Clarence asked.
“Get one of those portable scanners, right?” Samson asked.
“Please, ma'am,” Trip asked.
“Since you did save Trip, I will do this, against my better judgement.
Soon one of the soldiers scanned Clarence.
“He's clean,” he said. He then scanned Samson. “Some unusual anatomy, but he's clean.

“Not a mask,” Samson said.
“What?” Clarence asked.
“Look closer,” Samson directed.
…
“How?” Samson pondered.
“I have no idea, sir, only that it was a trick,” the lady said.
…
She read the list, and soon found the one she was looking for. The file was expansive, but it didn't contain the information she was looking for. 'I guess not,' she thought. 'It has become a taboo.' She figured she would find out another way. 'Either way, it would come out eventually.' She decided to look at the information of her other crew.
Back in the Operations Centre, Olzan was annoyed. He didn't know why his commanding officer had asked that question. It was really none of her business. Whether one was in symboisis or not was a personal matter.
Chapter 10: Temporal Interference
On the Al-Batani...
“Power has been restored to forward plasma cannons, Captain,” T'Vanra reporterd.
“Then fire to disable the Operative's ship. T'Vanra,” Kenway reported.
“Aye, Captain.”
The Al-Batani passed the listing Saratoga and fired upon the Operative's ship.
The Operative fired back, gauging more holes into the Al-Batani's hull.
“Hull breach, deck 5, section 2,” Stadius said.
“Keep firing,” Kenway said.
“The Al-Batani is continuing their attack,” the Saratoga's tactical officer reported.
“Acknowledged. Prepare to launch attack shuttles,” Sacramento ordered.
“Forward missiles are back online, Captain,” T'Vanra reported.
“Fire!” Kenway ordered.
“Crap!” The Operative said. He fired at the Al'Batani's forward missile launcher.
The Operative's weapons fire hit the Al-Batani, knocking the missile launcher offline again,
It was then that the Saratoga began to launch it's attack shuttles.
'Of course,' the Operative thought. “Computer, launch attack drones!”
The Operative's ship launched many smaller attack drones.
“Small attack drones, Captain,” T'Vanra reported.
“Blow them out of my space!” Kenway ordered.
“Aye, Captain.”
“Attack drones, Captain,” the tactial officer reported. “The Al-Batani is firing upon them.”
“Sacramento to shuttles, focus on the Operative's ship. Engage the drones only if attacked.”
Chapter 11: Back on the Bass Sea
“Yes,” Karen said quietly.
“What happened?” Sumi asked.
Chapter 12: Behind the Scenes on New Tasmania
Suddenly, he heard something unusual behind him. 'What is that?' he thought. He turned around. He saw nothing. 'It must be the wind,' he thought.
Chapter 13: Emerging Halloran
An hour later, Keiran delivered the crew's decision to Tarran.
“What is the decision?” he asked.
“The whole crew have decided to take up the offer to explore the Confederation's cyberspaces,” Keiran said.
“Then we shall proceed accordingly,” Tarran said.

“What happens now?” Emmett asked asked as she and Tarran removed the VR helmets.
“Ther server is ready, we just have to upload the Halloran and its crew to it. The progam we are going to use to allow it to explore is almost complete.”
“Just needs some beta testing, right?”
“Yes,” Tarran answered.

Tarran entered Findlay's office.
“You're ready? He asked.

The Captain finished recording the log entry, and began to think about the situation at that remote base...
Chapter 14: Revenge of the Utaith
“Palantine thinks General Tortorus is on Utauap. WE have had no reports of this from our agents.” Ki-mui said.
“How could the Chancellor have come by this information and we know nothing about it,” Mara Windra asked. “We have had contact with Baroness Mamanida and she said no one was there.”
“A partial message was intercepted in a diplomatic packet from the Chair of Utauap,” Annika Starkiller said.
Yodama said. “Act on this, we need to. The capture of General Tortorus will end this war. Decisively and Quickly, we should procede.”
“Does everyone agree?” Wanda Kenneth asked.
All the Thiatu concurred.
Annika was about to say something (that the chancellor had requested that she lead the campaign), but she paused.
“You have something to say, Annika?” Wanda asked.
“I was going to say, Mistress, that the Chancellor was requesting that I lead the campaign.”
“The Council will make up it's own mind who is to go, not the Chancellor,” Windra said.
“Yes, this decision is ours to make,” Ki-mui added.
“I realize that,” Annika said.
“A Master is needed, with more experience,”
“Given our rescources. I recommend we send only one Thiatu … Mistress Kenneth.”
“She was not so successful the last time she met Tortorus.”
Wanda looked at Annika askanse.
“You needed my help. If I wasn't there, it could have gone the other way,” Annika said.
“You're right, but I do have the most experience with her ways of combat.”
“Conflicted, my choice is. Logic says to send Kenneth. But something else says to send Starkiller,” Yodama said, her tone indicating dismay.
“Then we're in disagreement,” Windra said.
“We need to send someone,” Ki-mui,” said.
Yodama shook her head. “Starkiller, my choice is!”
Chapter 15: For Lawnton!
“Uh, Where was I?” Jacqueline asked as she turned off the radio. “Oh, yeah...”
She then pulled the car up in the School's parking circle. “Don't get upset if it takes the other kids a little while to warm up to you.”
They arrived the school. Quinn introduced himself to the other students, while Darian just ignored them all as he headed inside.
Soon, Andrew Li, the Principal, was showing a small group of new students around the school. He knew that one of his other students was trailing the group, but he didn't know that student's intentions...
Anakin Moore, Senior, was watching the students as they walked through the school and took in what Mr. Li was showing them.

“Crap!” Jane said.
“Oh no!” Daria said.
“Yes!” Jane said as she found the chequebook. She quickly forged her mother’s signature. “Done.”
Jane crawled out the top of the envelope of the airship-house. She used a ladder to crawl to the edge. “Yo! Bank dudes!”

...as she opened a drawer next to her desk. She quickly found what she was looking for.
“Lawndale Primary is looking for someone who wants to talk about Safety, and given Kevin’s recent injury, I feel that he’s perfect for the position,” she said.
“I see, I shall talk to Kevin about this. I will get back to you,” Charlene said.
“Very good, Mrs. Thompson, I shall hear from you soon.”
At lunch, Brittany approached Daria. “Hello?” Daria asked.
“Traitor!” Brittany accused.
“It’s hard to betray something you didn’t agree with to begin with,” Daria said.
