Excerpt from: Doctor Who – Mystery in Polonia
They were at it again, Turlough thought. There they were, holding hands as they looked at the displays they passed, looking like any other couple. He half expected them to turn and kiss each other at any moment.


“Here is the center,” the Doctor said as he let go of Tegan’s hand.

“How can you tell?” Tegan asked.

He looked up. “Because we’re under the large dome.”

Tegan followed his gaze and saw the transparent dome and the various upper levels with it. “This is going to take some time,” she groused.

“Brave heart, Tegan.”

“But I don’t see any pamphlets here either,” Tegan said. She looked around at the various signs. “What would I be looking for?”

“Something like ‘settlement’ or colonization, I suppose,” the Doctor mused.

They quickly caught up.

“Let’s recap,” Daria said. “We have confirmed that the portal connects Lawndale to Middleton in a few years in the future.”

Quinn nodded.

“Yes,” the Doctor said. “But we don’t know who is responsible for the portal, nor what’s going on in Middleton.”

“And why Lawndale and Middleton?” Quinn asked with a giggle. “There is nothing remarkable about either of them.”

Stacy turned to Quinn. “She wants to talk to you.”

“Of course,” she said as she took the phone. “Sandi?”

“Quinn. Why did you ignore me earlier?”

“What do you mean, Sandi, I was coming here.”

“That not what I meant,” Sandi clarified.

Quinn was confused. “What do you mean?”

“Is this your way of acknowledging how much more mature and trustworthy I am?” Daria asked.

“It's my way of saying if you won't do it, I'm sending you both with a babysitter.”

“I'll take that as a ringing declaration of parental approval.”

“Just the way it was intended, sweetheart.”


That weekend, Jane’s brother, Trent, drove Jane and Daria to the party. He pulled up outside the gated estate. “I'll let you off here. I have a problem dealing with authority.”

“This first week has been really eye-opening,” Quinn said. “It must be your teaching.”

The teacher was flattered. “Oh, well... thank you very much.”
