Waiting upon the LORD
Waiting (in the Old Testament)
Dependence on and expectation of God at work.
Binding together (like a rope) and growing stronger.
Community rather than individually focused.

Opportunity.

In the New Testament
Perseverance
Steadfastness - Standing for what we know to be true about God.

Romans 5
2 Timothy 3

Standing firm in God.

Testing of the faith
vs 4

The point - Salvation, building God's Kingdom.
God uses various trials to develop perseverance.
Trails are a depost, not a withdrawal.
Wisdom comes by prayer.

Long term view

Greatest danger to faith...
- Ease

Wisdom to know how to respond to the trial.

James is 100% confident in God.
A God who gives liberally
A God who doesn't find fault
A god who isn't restrained by the resources of this world.

James 4:8

Draw near to God in prayer.
- Ask for wisdom to
- Thrive in trials
- So you can persevere
- To gain and share eternal life.

A call to prayer.
