Quinn Meets Quinn

Quinn meets Quinn
Lawndale, D-1337 (Early 2006)
Quinn Morgendorffer said goodbye to her friends Cindy Brolsma and Kristen Bell. After they had waved and started towards their houses, Quinn turned towards home. She soon came to a strange allyway that she had always passed but had never gone down. This afternoon however, she was feeling daring, like the heroine in one of the many games she played. 'It does lead towards Glen Oaks Lane afterall,' she thought.

As soon as she entered the allyway Quinn felt a strangeness around her. “This is weird...” She looked ahead. The allyway went straight ahead although there were many trees, there so she couldn't see the road beyond. She sped up her pace.

Soon the clouds seemed to lower. 'This isn't good,' she thought. Soon it grew foggier...

The fog soon grew so dense that Quinn couldn't see more than six feet in front of her. “Uh, oh!” she took out her cell phone.

No Service

“Great!” She said.

Then something (even more) unexpected happened. “Who's there?” someone asked.

“That's weird,” Quinn said. The voice sounded very familiar. 'I must be imagining it,' she thought.

“That's weird,” the other voice said, almost like an echo.

Quinn knew, however, that it wasn't an echo. “Who are you?” she asked.

“Who are you?” the other person asked back, with a tinge of fear. This time, Quinn walked in the direction of the voice, perpendicularly to the direction she had been going in.

“I asked first,” Quinn said as the other person came into sight.

“I'm Quinn,” the long haired red head said.

'Golly, her hair is longer than Daria's and Erin's,' Quinn thought. “Strange, I'm Quinn too,” Quinn said, with a nervous laugh.

The other Quinn gave an almost identical nervous laugh. “You know, you look almost like me,” she pointed out.

Quinn scrutinized the other person whom looked so much like her. “Except that your hair is quite long, and your shirt has an angel on it,” she said.

“Cute, isn't it,” the other Quinn said throwing her hair with a toss of her head.

“Yes, but it must take a lot of grooming.”

“Not at all.”
Quinn looked at the other Quinn askanse. She knew that the longer hair was, that it became more difficult to look after.

“And your hair! That Twiggy look is so mid sixties.”

“Twiggy?” Quinn frowned. She didn't cut her hair short because of Twiggy. She cut her hair the way she did because it was cute and practical.

“You know, the model and actress.”

“I know who Twiggy is, but I didn't cut it this way because of her, but because it's cute.”

The other Quinn stepped closer to Quinn. “The Matrix, it looks so weird!”

“It's a movie. I guess it is weird, but I'm not going to spoil it for you if you haven't seen it. Keanu Reeves is in it,” Quinn said, gesturing to the picture of Reeves on the shirt where it lay above the logo of the film.

“Oh, he was in Speed,” the other Quinn said. She then appeared to be in thought. “He was also in that geeky Ted and Bill film...”

“Bill and Ted,” Quinn corrected. “So what if it's geeky? We like geeky, right?” She had until then, thought that their interests were much the same. 'Maybe she thinks herself a nerd.'

“Geeky! Yeah right! Geeks are geeks! Nerds! Unpopular! Daria is into that stuff and her weird art friend Jane too.”

Quinn was shocked to say the least. “Unpopular! I am popular. Don't let that Sandi tell you otherwise!” She didn't know what else to say. She was still trying to digest the fact that the other Quinn didn't consider herself a geek.

“Oh, don't let me get started on Sandi! Just because she's the President of the Fashion Club doesn't mean that she can boss us around!”

'I guess we are quite different afterall,' Quinn thought. “You mean, you're in the Fashion Club!?!”

“Yeah, of course, aren't you?”

That was shocking to say the least. “No, I'm not.”

“That's right, Sandi wouldn't ask a geek to join.”

“Actually, Sandi did ask me. I turned her down.”

“Oh,” the other Quinn said. It appeared that she was in thought.

This gave Quinn a reprieve to think about the situation. She was actually meeting an alternate of herself whilst in a strange fog. 'I guess if I retrace my steps I should be fine, but what about her?' It also appeared that the other Quinn was not a geek and in the Fashion Club, the only constants seemed to be that the other Quinn didn't get along with her sister and Jane either, and that Sandi was the president of the Fashion Club.
“So, you're in the Fashion Club,” Quinn finally asked again.

“I believe we have already established that,” the other Quinn said in a conceited tone.

“That's true then.”

“If you are not in the Fashion Club, then what club are you in?”

“The Anime Club,” Quinn said, thinking that to name either of the other two clubs that she was in wouldn't be good idea at that point.

“Anime? You mean those weird Japanese cartoons?”

“Yeah.”

“I like Pokemon, they're cute.”

“Not just Pokemon. I like the weird stuff too,” Quinn said, hoping that they had that in common beyond a sense of style and a liking of cute things.

“A lot of it is geeky!”

“I guess not.”

“I remember now, that's the club that nerdy Jenna is the president of.”

“Um, yeah.”

“So you're a nerd too!”

“No, Quinn, I'm a Geek, there's a difference.”

“Geek! Geek! Geek!”

'Well, this has gone from bad to worse,' Quinn thought. There had to be a way to resolve the situation. “So, what shows do you like?” she finally asked.

“Shows with Cute teens in them. What do you like about those animes anyway?”

“The character and setting designs are cute, and the storylines are interesting.”

“Maybe,” the other Quinn said.

“Like the way you apparently like fashion, you 'geek out,' over it.”

The other Quinn looked offended. She turned up her nose and looked to the side. “Hhmf!”

'Great, I've alienated her. We're going to part on bad terms after-all,' Quinn thought. Before she could turn away. She heard another rather familiar voice in the distance...

“Hello? Who's there?”

'Great!' Quinn thought. It sounded like yet another Quinn was arriving on the scene...
