Excerpts from: Galactic Voyages
“Good, the sooner this is over with the better!”
“Definitely.”
…
“May the Power be with us!” Windra said.
Chapter 32: Escaping Ranger?
“Where to?” one of them asked.
Chapter 33: The Young Runaway
“But why would he run away?” Dil asked.
“He won't answer. We surmise that his parents may have been fighting and that he felt responsible.”
Chapter 34: Darian Dance Party
“Ms. LeBeau? Darian and I were just saying that that there are some students at school who are really making a differents and maybe we're short-changing them in the yearbook.”
Chapter 35: Stevie the Brain
He was surprised to see Stevie's essay in it. 'Why would Ms. Fitzpatrick put it in the School Paper?” he asked. He knew that something was going to come of it, but he wasn't sure what.
In his homeroom, Stevie opened the Lawnton HighUp! and almost fainted to see his essay in there. 'Why, Ms. Fitzpatrick, why?' He started breathing heavily. Soon he felt someone's hand on his shoulder. He jumped. He turned and saw that it was Christian.
“Are you OK?” Christian asked. His voice showed concern.
“Yes,” Stevie answered.
Christian gave a look of sympathy.
“No!” Stevie said, changing his answer.
“What's wrong?”
Stevie sighd. “It's Sandy! He didn't like that I got an A for the essay, notwithstanding that I needed it to maintain a passing grade! But now...” he trailed off.
“You're afraid that he'll beat you up?” Christian asked.
“I don't know what to do!” Stevie said.
“We have the same class next. I'll come with you to there,” Christian offered.
“That would be great! Thanks!” Stevie shook Christian's hand.
Stevie's fears were well founded. Sandy had also seen the seen the essay in the paper. Bad enough that Quinn despite his geek status, was still as popular as ever but now Stevie's popularity was in the ascendancy (not that he would ever admit to anyone that he knew that word!)
The first person from the Cadet Club he met after leaving Homeroom in a huff was Vic. “You have seen the HighUp!,” he stated.
“Yes!”
“It's not his fault!” Vic said.
“Oh, really?”
“I'm sure Ms. Fitzpatrick is the one who actually put it in the paper.”
“I don't care!”
“Please, don't be too rough on Stevie!” Vic said with a slight begging tone. Sandy just continued walking towards class.
The first class of the day for the freshmen was Math. The teach was not yet in attendence when Stevie arrived with Christian, with Cameron and Quinn close behind.
